Role Overview
The Deputy General Manager Platforms & Cloud will be a senior technology, architecture, and transformation leader responsible for enterprise architecture, solution design, and execution of large-scale platform and non-ERP application transformation programs across the Group. The role will anchor platform, cloud, data centre, and application modernization initiatives , while providing strong governance, vendor management, and architectural assurance across all group entities.
This position requires a leader who can design at enterprise scale, make architectural trade-offs, and simultaneously run complex programs , ensuring outcomes are delivered with rigor, predictability, and alignment to business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture & Solution Design
- Define and govern the Groups enterprise architecture for platforms, cloud, and application ecosystems.
- Develop and own reference architectures, solution blueprints, and design standards for:
- Data centres and HCI platforms o Hybrid and multi-cloud environmentso Cloud-native, microservices, and serverless architectures o Enterprise database platforms and modernization patterns
- Provide architectural oversight and design assurance for all large programs and critical initiatives.
- Evaluate technology options and make fact-based architectural decisions balancing cost, risk, scalability, and long-term sustainability.
Platform & Data Centre Leadership
- Own the end-to-end platform strategy and modernization roadmap across on-prem, hybrid, and cloud environments.
- Lead design and execution of large-scale, mission-critical data centers , including:
- Compute, storage, and network fabrics o Hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) o High availability, DR, and business continuity architectures
- Drive standardization, consolidation, and rationalization of platforms across group companies.
Cloud & Hybrid Cloud Strategy
- Define, execute, and govern the Group-wide cloud strategy .
- Hands-on expertise across cloud services including:
- Compute, storage, networking o Databases (relational, NoSQL, distributed) o Platform and managed services
- Establish cloud operating models covering landing zones, security guardrails, FinOps, and operational governance .
- Drive cloud optimization, performance, and cost efficiency at scale.
Application & Platform Modernization
- Lead application and platform modernization programs , including:
- Legacy to cloud-native transformations o Monolith to microservices o Containerization and orchestration
- Modern serverless architectures
- Partner with application and business teams to ensure platform readiness and architectural alignment .
- Lead enterprise database modernization and consolidation initiatives.
Large-Scale Transformation Program Leadership
- Anchor and run large, complex, multi-year transformation programs across platforms, cloud, and applications.
- Establish program governance structures , including steering committees, milestones, KPIs, and benefits realization.
- Manage cross-functional and cross-entity dependencies to ensure predictable delivery.
- Act as the single accountable owner for platform and cloud transformation outcomes.
OEM, Partner & Vendor Management
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with OEMs, hyperscalers, and Tier-1 system integrators .
- Lead commercial and technical governance with partners, including:
- Contractual and commercial alignment
- Architecture compliance and design reviews
- Delivery quality and performance management
- Drive outcome-based engagement models and ensure value realization from partner ecosystems.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Establish and enforce technology governance frameworks across group companies.
- Ensure adherence to enterprise architecture standards, security baselines, and resilience requirements .
- Partner closely with cybersecurity and risk teams to ensure platforms meet regulatory and internal governance expectations.
- Provide executive-level reporting on program health, risks, and investment effectiveness .
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop teams of senior architects, platform engineers, and cloud specialists.
- Engage with CXOs, business heads, and application owners to translate business objectives into scalable technology solutions.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on platform and cloud strategy, investments, and risks .
Experience & Qualifications
Professional Experience
- 2025 years of experience in enterprise platforms, cloud, data centres, and large-scale IT transformations.
- Prior experience with a Tier-1 global System Integrator or OEM is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Perform enterprise architecture and solution design at scale o Lead and deliver large, complex transformation programs o Operate across architecture, execution, governance, and vendor management roles
Educational Qualifications
- BE / BTech from a reputed engineering institution (mandatory).
Certifications
- Expert-level or advanced certifications , such as:
- TOGAF or equivalent enterprise architecture certifications
- OEM / Hyperscaler expert-level certifications (cloud architect, infrastructure expert tracks)
Technical & Leadership Competencies
- Deep expertise in:
- Data centre and HCI architectures
- Enterprise networking and platforms
- Cloud-native and serverless architectures
- Enterprise databases and modernization strategies
- Strong governance mindset with hands-on execution capability.
- Ability to engage effectively at CXO, board, and engineering levels .
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
