Role Summary

As the Deputy Director of Market Place Business, you will hold a pivotal leadership position encompassing a wide range of strategic and operational responsibilities. Your primary mandate will be to oversee the entire Market Place function, ensuring optimal product sourcing, competitive pricing, and effective promotional strategies to maximize sales growth and profitability.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Buying & Merchandising: Develop and execute comprehensive buying strategies aligned with financial objectives and target customer segments.
  2. Team Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor a team of merchandisers, providing clear guidance to ensure the product assortment consistently meets and exceeds customer demands.
  3. Market Analysis & Growth: Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activities to proactively identify and capitalize on new opportunities for growth and continuous improvement.
  4. Vendor Management: Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate favorable terms, pricing structures, and advantageous promotional opportunities.
  5. Innovation & Best Practices: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive market innovation and maintain a competitive advantage.
  6. Performance Reporting: Provide regular, insightful updates on key performance metrics (KPIs), market trends, and progress on strategic initiatives to senior leadership.
  7. Talent Cultivation: Beyond operational oversight, you will be responsible for developing and mentoring your team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the function.


Your strong leadership and sharp decision-making skills will be instrumental in driving the Market Place function toward achieving the company's overarching business objectives.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience: Demonstrated, substantial experience in buying, merchandising, or Sales/Market Place management.
  • Analytical Acumen: Strong analytical capabilities with the proven ability to interpret complex data, identify actionable trends, and make informed, data-driven business decisions.
  • Communication & Negotiation: Excellent communication and advanced negotiation skills, necessary for building and sustaining effective relationships with both internal teams and external stakeholders (suppliers, partners).
  • Leadership & Results: A proven track record of successfully developing and managing high-performing teams while consistently driving tangible results in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic Vision: Possess a strategic mindset focused on innovation, creativity, and driving sustainable business growth.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Fashion, Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field is required; an advanced degree (e.g., MBA) is a significant plus.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant analytical and reporting software applications.
