Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic professional for our Natural Resources vertical, covering Chemicals, Petrochemicals, Metals, Minerals & Mines. The role involves strategic policy advocacy, industry engagement, research, and driving impactful initiatives that advance sectoral growth and competitiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Policy Advocacy & Government Interface
- Lead policy formulation, representation, and advocacy for the Natural Resources sector with key Ministries, regulatory bodies, and government institutions.
- Analyse policy changes, regulatory frameworks, taxation, trade policies, and environmental guidelines to provide recommendations for industrys benefit.
- Develop position papers, consultation responses, and papers on sector-specific issues.
Industry & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong networks with industry leaders, member companies, trade associations, and global partners.
- Facilitate platforms for dialogueworking groups, roundtables, delegations, and high-level industry forums.
- Drive membership growth and engagement across Chemicals, Petrochemicals, Metals, Minerals, and Mining segments.
Research & Strategic Insights
- Monitor market trends, emerging technologies, sustainability practices, and investment opportunities.
- Generate sectoral reports, survey findings, and analytical inputs to support advocacy and business development initiatives.
Event & Program Management
- Conceptualize and execute national and international conferences, B2B/B2G meetings, policy summits, and capacity-building programs.
- Ensure impactful branding, sponsorship driving, and knowledge partnerships for sector-led initiatives.
Business Development & Revenue Growth
- Identify and pursue opportunities for sponsorship, partnerships, and commercial projects.
- Develop annual strategic plans with clear targets aligned to chamber objectives.
Education and Experience
- Masters degree or higher in Engineering/Economics/Business Administration
- Proven experience in policy advocacy, regulatory engagement, and government liaison.
- Strong understanding of ESG/Sustainability standards, technology development, resource management policies, and trade frameworks.

- Strategic Leadership: Ability to formulate and execute long-term strategies to build and sustain a robust startup and innovation ecosystem.
- Stakeholder Management: Strong skills in engaging and influencing diverse stakeholders including government officials, industry leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs.
- Policy Advocacy: Expertise in analysing, developing, and advocating for policies that support startup growth and ease of doing business.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to represent ASSOCHAM effectively and build networks.
- Program Management: Proficiency in designing, implementing, and monitoring startup support programs such as incubation, mentorship, and funding initiatives.
- Financial Acumen: Understanding of funding mechanisms, investment processes, and financial management related to startups and innovation projects.
- Innovation Mindset: Deep understanding of innovation trends, technology commercialization, and entrepreneurship dynamics.
- Team Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

IT Skills
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) for document preparation, data analysis, and presentations.
- Email and Calendar Management using MS Outlook or similar tools for scheduling and coordination.
- Virtual Meeting Platforms (Zoom, MS Teams, Google Meet) for webinars, meetings, and online events.
- Online Research Skills to gather industry data, track policy updates, and prepare briefing notes.
- Familiar with the use of Artificial Intelligence tools, including ChatGPT and similar platforms, for enhancing efficiency and communication. Comfortable working in ERP environments and leveraging digital systems for process optimization and data-driven decision-making.
