Job Title : Dean Research

Reports to : Vice Chancellor

Reportees : Associate Deans / HoDs / Research Faculty


Qualification : Ph.D.

Required Experience : 1520 years in Academia/Research, with at least 810 years in a relevant leadership role


Position Overview -

The Dean Research will lead the strategic planning, development, and administration of the Universitys research agenda. This role will foster new and interdisciplinary research initiatives, manage research collaborations with internal and external stakeholders, and uphold the Universitys policies for academic integrity, compliance, and a safe research environment. The position will also oversee the Ph.D. Program, research centers, and sponsored projects, ensuring alignment with institutional goals.

Key Responsibilities -

Strategic Leadership & Policy

* Provide guidance across academic and research programs, collaborating with Deans of constituent Schools to direct and optimize research activities.

* Formulate and implement research policies, ensuring compliance with all University and governmental regulations.

* Lead initiatives to promote a vibrant research culture, enhancing the Universitys academic reputation nationally and internationally.


Academic Research & Ph.D. Program

* Set strategic goals for research and establish the Universitys reputation in academic excellence.

* Oversee admission, development, and quality assurance of Ph.D. and higher degree research programs.

* Encourage faculty engagement in research, fostering mentorship for early and mid-career researchers.

* Drive innovation in research processes and promote intellectual property creation.


Administration of Research-Centric Initiatives

* Facilitate school-level research meetings and proposals.

* Coordinate internal and external funding applications and manage research budgets.

* Supervise the publication of high-quality research outputs in reputable journals.

* Track funded research schemes and promote faculty/student participation.


Sponsored Research Management

* Represent the University to sponsoring agencies, serving as the principal lead for sponsored projects.

* Collaborate with Principal Investigators to develop, submit, and manage funded research proposals.

* Ensure timely reporting, compliance, and quality assurance for all sponsored projects.


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

* 100% compliance with university and sponsor research policies.

* Measurable increase in funded research projects and publications.

* Successful Ph.D. admissions and timely completions.

* Active engagement with national and international research collaborations.


Skills & Competencies

* Strategic vision and leadership in academic research.

* Strong knowledge of research funding mechanisms, compliance requirements, andacademic regulations.

* Excellent communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills.

* Ability to mentor, inspire, and manage diverse academic teams.
