Job Description
We are seeking a visionary and experienced academic leader to serve as the Dean of Law at a reputed university in North India. The Dean will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, academic programs, faculty development, and research initiatives within the School of Law. The ideal candidate should have a strong academic and professional background in legal education and a commitment to fostering a dynamic learning environment that upholds the universitys standards of excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Strategy: Provide visionary leadership for the School of Law, aligning with the universitys mission and goals, and developing long-term academic and operational strategies.
- Academic Excellence: Ensure the quality and relevance of legal education, oversee curriculum development, and maintain high academic standards in teaching, research, and student outcomes.
- Faculty Development: Recruit, mentor, and retain top-tier faculty members; promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous professional growth.
- Research & Publications: Foster a research-driven environment, encouraging faculty and students to engage in impactful legal research, and publish in renowned journals.
- Student Success: Oversee student admissions, academic advising, and career placement services; ensure student satisfaction, holistic development, and a robust learning experience.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with national and international legal education standards, including Bar Council of India (BCI) regulations.
- Budget & Resource Management: Manage the schools budget, allocate resources efficiently, and seek opportunities for fundraising, partnerships, and grants.
- Community Engagement: Build strong networks with the legal community, including law firms, courts, and alumni, to enhance practical learning opportunities and internships.
- Diversity & Inclusion: Promote an inclusive academic environment that values diversity in students, staff, and faculty.
Qualifications:
- Education: Ph.D. or equivalent in Law or related legal disciplines from a recognized institution.
- Experience:
- Minimum 15+ years of academic experience in legal education, with at least 5 years in leadership roles (e.g., Dean, Associate Dean, or Department Head).
- Proven track record of research, publication, and contributions to the legal profession.
- Experience with curriculum design, accreditation processes, and quality assurance in higher education.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and foster collaboration.
- A global perspective on legal education and an understanding of emerging trends in law.
