Job Overview

Job Purpose

This experienced DB2 DBA will act as a key SME for Markets and Securities Services Technology - Custody Application, SECORE, providing hands on and theoretical expertise. They will act as a key point of contact between the Application Development Team and CTI DBAs. They will bring best practice and industry standards to the role and possess strong technical skills to understand industry trends and database strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as SME for all matters related to DB2 database for Custody Application, SECORE
• In-depth subject matter expertise on DB2 Utilities including backup and recovery using FlashCopy
• Perform an advisory role in the design and delivery of various changes from Application development teams located in distributed locations
• Adhere to defined standards and best practices for the management and support of the DB2 Databases in development and production subsystem
• Work with CTI to manage and implement Application changes through various environments
• Ensure that delivered Database changes are fit for purpose and appropriately sized, tested, monitored and managed
• Offer expertise to Production Support and Migration Team to resolve DB2 failure and tune application performance
• Monitor and perform regular health check of all Custody Application, SECORE Databases
• Develop and Deliver solutions to support application development and reduce costs

Key Skills and Experience

• It is expected that suitable candidates for this role will have 8-13 years DB2 experience
• Strong IT background within Banking Industry with end-to-end experience of Service Delivery
• Good knowledge of JCL, COBOL, REXX, TWS, File Aid and CA Platinum DB2 Tools
• Experience with performance tuning of batch and online application
• Sound knowledge and understanding of the DB2 database architecture, including schemas, tables, views, packages, stored procedures, functions, triggers, sequences, indexes and constraints
• Demonstrable experience of DB2 expertise in a large-scale organization
• Highly motivated with good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Team player who is strong on collaboration and able to work effectively as part of a distributed team
• Self-motivated and able to work on projects independently
• Excellent written and verbal English skills.
