DB2 Database Administrator

Experience- 9-16 years

Location- Kolkata

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and troubleshooting of DB2 databases across various versions (including 10.5, 11.1, 11.5, 12 etc).

Responsibilities

• The candidate should have experience working in high-availability environments and demonstrate strong skills in automation, security, and compliance.
• Perform periodic maintenance.
• Monitor database performance and perform proactive tuning.
• Implement and manage robust backup and recovery procedures, including RTO (Recovery Time Objective) and RPO (Recovery Point Objective) consideration, while supporting data replication and migration between different DB2 environments.
• Define and implement best practices and automation initiatives.
• Lead database migration projects (on-prem to cloud / version upgrades).

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of IBM DB2 LUW and/or DB2 z/OS database platforms.
• Database Administration DB2 LUW Support critical production environment.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like db2top, IBM Data Server Manager.
• Hands-on experience in performance tuning and query optimization.
• Experience with DB2 commands: Stop/Start Databases, Display command, Cancel thread and Term & Display utility, others.
• Hands-on experience on DB2 utilities: Reorg and Runstat, Backup and Recovery of Table spaces (copy & recover), Repair, Load/Unload utilities.
• Ability to bind/rebind the Plans/Packages and Granting required accesses to Packages/Plans/Collections.
• Experience in Database replication IBM DB2 Data Propagator.
• DB2 administration - Strong Troubleshooting skills.
• Must have performed DB2 migration Addition and removal of hosts from the cluster manager and shared file system.
• Good communication skills with both technical and management teams.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with remote installation and configuration of the DB2 pure scale feature.
• Knowledge of Oracle, PostgreSQL or MySQL DB administration.
• Experience in database security auditing and compliance.
• Familiarity with Ansible or Terraform tools for database deployment automation.
• Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure) are a strong plus.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and change management procedures.
