• Working knowledge of Indexes
• Query Optimization Strategies/Approaches
• Deep Knowledge of Data Management
• Skilled at optimizing large, complicated SQL statements
• Good knowledge of table partitioning and replication
• Good knowledge of SQL datatypes, Stored Procedures, Functions, Cursors and
• Triggers including Loops

Responsibilities

• Installation, configuration, and upgrade of PostgreSQL (on Linux/Windows)
• Managing PostgreSQL clusters using pgAdmin, psql, and command-line tools.
• Creating and managing databases, schemas, tables, indexes, roles, and privileges.
• Performance Tuning & Optimization
• Query performance tuning using EXPLAIN/EXPLAIN ANALYZE.
• Index tuning (B-Tree, GIN, GiST, BRIN indexes).
• Optimizing vacuum, autovacuum settings, and analyzing bloat.
• Monitoring slow queries and improving performance.
• Setting up and managing backups using pg_dump, pg_basebackup, and custom

scripts.

• Implementing PITR (Point-In-Time Recovery) using WAL files.
• Setting up and managing Streaming Replication, Logical Replication, and Hot

Standby.

• Experience with tools like Patroni, repmgr, pgpool-II, or HAProxy.
• Failover and switchover operations.
• Managing roles, privileges, and authentication methods (SCRAM, LDAP, MD5).
• Performing routine maintenance (VACUUM, ANALYZE, REINDEX).
• PostgreSQL on Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
• CI/CD deployment knowledge (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins).
