Database Administrator

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced MySQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize MySQL database systems. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in MySQL replication, backup & recovery, performance tuning, and scripting, ensuring high availability, security, and reliability of databases.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain MySQL databases in production and non-production environments
• Manage and monitor MySQL replication (MasterSlave / MasterMaster) and troubleshoot replication issues
• Design and implement backup and recovery strategies (logical and physical backups)
• Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing
• Monitor database health, capacity planning, and proactively address potential issues
• Ensure database high availability, data integrity, and security
• Automate routine DBA tasks using shell scripting / Python / Perl
• Handle database patching, version upgrades, and migrations with minimal downtime
• Support development and application teams with database-related issues
• Maintain documentation for database architecture, procedures, and operational guidelines
• Provide on-call/production support as and when required

Required Skills & Experience

• 36 years of hands-on experience as a MySQL DBA
• Strong expertise in MySQL replication, backup, and recovery
• Experience with database performance tuning and optimization
• Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments
• Good scripting skills in Shell, Python, or Perl
• Experience with tools such as Percona, MySQL Enterprise Backup, or similar
• Knowledge of database security best practices
• Ability to troubleshoot complex database and replication issues

Preferred Skills (Good to Have)

• Experience with high availability solutions (MySQL Cluster, Galera, ProxySQL, HAProxy)
• Exposure to cloud-based databases (AWS RDS / Aurora / GCP Cloud SQL)
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana)
• Knowledge of other databases like PostgreSQL or MongoDB

Educational Qualification

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
