Job Description
Database Admin I is involved w/ developing, implementing, & maintaining data specs, designs, integration, testing, & documentation under the supervision of the Ld Database Administrator. They implement & maintain data specs, testing (e.g., scripts), & documentation as specified by user requirements. The incumbent maintains database performance by applying tuning methodologies and monitoring performance, security, server config, & data integrity as directed by the Ld Database Administrator.
Principal Accountabilities:
• Addresses database issues as assigned utilizing ticket system.
• Collaborates with Lead Database Engineer to maintain database size and scalability by evaluating database performance and trends, as well as w/ other database engineers to create robust, scalable database structures & queries.
• Creates primary database storage structures (tablespaces) and modifies the database structure, as necessary, from information given by Software Engineers or within DB ticket.
• Follows SQL standards and guidelines, and answers technical and procedural questions from users.
• Implements and monitors database user access and ownership (create, read, update, and delete).
• Maintains archived data on storage mechanisms as instructed by direct supervisor.
• Maintains databases on a set schedule provided by direct supervisor.
Skills & Software Requirements:
MS SQL DBA- familiarity with SQLServer Management studio, familiarity with IDERA, SCOM, DMP, Familiarity with Window clustering; Oracle DBA-Familiarity with Oracle RAC, ASM, SQL, LINUX, Export/Import.
