The organization delivers end-to-end maritime solutions powered by digital innovation, data intelligence, and operational excellence to enhance fleet performance and customer experience.

Overview

We are looking for a Lead Data Engineer to own and scale our data infrastructure. This role goes beyond pipelinesyou will architect robust data systems, collaborate across engineering and product teams, and enable data-driven decision-making across the enterprise.

The ideal candidate brings strong engineering fundamentals, hands-on pipeline expertise, and the ability to evolve data platforms that support analytics, AI, and real-time applications.

What Will You Do?

• Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines (ETL/ELT) using Python
• Orchestrate workflows using Apache Airflow (DAG design, retries, dependencies, monitoring)
• Architect and manage data models, schemas, and storage systems across SQL and NoSQL environments
• Collaborate with frontend and backend teams to deliver data-driven applications and APIs
• Ensure data quality and reliability through validation, monitoring, and alerting mechanisms
• Optimize performance of pipelines and queries (indexing, caching, partitioning)
• Troubleshoot production issues, ensuring high availability and fast recovery
• Document data architecture, workflows, and APIs for scalability and onboarding
• Partner with product, analytics, and engineering teams to translate business needs into data solutions
• Drive best practices in CI/CD, testing, modularization, and automation

The Must-Haves

• 68 years of experience in Data Engineering / Software Engineering
• Strong proficiency in Python (modular, scalable, testable code)
• Hands-on experience building and managing data pipelines and orchestration workflows
• Deep expertise in Apache Airflow
• Advanced SQL skills (joins, window functions, query optimization)
• Experience with MongoDB (schema design, indexing, aggregation pipelines)
• Proficiency with Git/GitHub (branching, PRs, code reviews)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS / GCP / Azure) and storage systems (S3, GCS, etc.)
• Familiarity with Docker and working knowledge of Kubernetes
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning skills
• Ability to collaborate across teams and build end-to-end data solutions
• Ownership mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving ability

Good to Have

• Experience with data warehousing platforms (Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query)
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Exposure to distributed systems (Spark, Flink, Beam)
• Experience with data governance, security, and compliance frameworks
• Familiarity with automated testing (unit, integration, data validation)
• Mentorship or leadership experience guiding junior engineers
• Experience in performance and cost optimization, monitoring, and observability
