Job Overview:

As a Senior Data Engineer specializing in Data Modelling using Erwin, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing data governance and data management strategies for retail clients. Success in this role means delivering scalable, high-quality data models and metadata management solutions that enable actionable insights and drive business outcomes. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to craft data governance roadmaps and implement best practices around data quality and cataloging. This role is central to Tredences commitment to practical AI adoption and data-driven transformation in the retail domain.

What will your role look like? -

• Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive data models using Erwin to support retail business analytics and reporting requirements.
• Lead the implementation and management of data catalog solutions, leveraging Alation to ensure efficient metadata management and data discovery.
• Define and execute data governance roadmaps and blueprints that align with organizational goals and regulatory standards.
• Monitor and improve data quality through systematic data profiling, validation, and rule implementation.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to enable last mile adoption of data products and insights.
• Write efficient Python and SQL scripts to automate data pipelines, metadata capture, and integration tasks.
• Support the documentation of data lineage, metadata, and governance policies to foster transparency and trust. You will need:
• Hold a BE/BTech degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Demonstrate 4-8 years of professional experience in data engineering with a strong focus on data modelling, preferably using Erwin.
• Exhibit hands-on expertise in data catalog tools such as Alation for metadata management and governance purposes.
• Show a strong understanding of data governance frameworks, roadmaps, and blueprints within large, complex retail environments.
• Possess advanced proficiency in SQL for database querying and Python for data pipeline automation.
• Apply deep knowledge of data quality concepts and techniques to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.

• Good to Have Skills:
• Familiarity with additional data catalog or metadata management tools beyond Alation.
• Experience working in cloud data environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Knowledge of big data technologies and ETL frameworks.
• Certification in data governance or data architecture disciplines.
• Exposure to machine learning pipelines and AI-driven data products.
