Role Summary:

The D&A Data Governance Office has inherited several critical regulatory projects and is working to drive out a Data Governance Strategy across the division.  The Data Governance Strategy work includes driving an execution plan to ensure the division is compliant with LSEG Group Data Policy & Standards but is primarily focused on trying to support D&A Business growth.

We would like to hire strong candidates to join us in 2025 to support the evolution of our strategy and to drive execution across the portfolio of priority work identified.

The Data Governance Specialist will support one or more of these initiatives, driving execution and working with senior management across a growing key player population to ensure business objectives are achieved. They will be accountable for day-to-day delivery on a project or strategic execution but will additionally work with the Data Governance Manager and existing teams to support the broader strategy and planning.

Data Governance and the associated challenges already impacting the D&A organisation are increasingly a focus at the Exco level and opportunities to drive transformation and support Business growth through this work is an exciting challenge.

This role focuses on enforcing policies, processes, and standards for data management, with a strong emphasis on metadata—the data about data that provides context and improves usability.

Main Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Data Governance Framework: Actively participate with key players to identify and deliver opportunities to support LSEGs Data Governance strategy Implement a comprehensive data governance framework that aligns with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and the company's objectives. Ensure compliance with LSEG data governance standards and policies and information security principles. Collaborate with key players to establish data stewardship roles and responsibilities. Ensure metadata quality and accuracy to facilitate better data discovery and analysis
  • Collaboration and Training: Collaborate with Wider Governance teams which are part of our group and also which are part of the eco system. Partner with IT, business units, and data analysts to align data initiatives with organizational goals. Prepare training materials and train staff on data governance practices and the importance of metadata management.
    • Data Lineage and Documentation: Establish and maintain data lineage documentation, tracking the end-to-end flow of data from its source to its destination. Ensure data lineage information is accurate, up-to-date, and readily accessible to key players. Collaborate with data engineering teams to implement data lineage tracking mechanisms.
    • Data Governance Tools and Technologies: Be a role model in driving and adopting data governance tools and technologies to enhance data management processes, metadata management and data lineage. Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
    • Data Governance Reporting and Metrics: Develop and maintain data governance performance metrics and reporting mechanisms.
    • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, legal, compliance, risk management, and business units, to ensure alignment and adherence to data governance policies. Be prepared to educate and train employees on data governance principles and best practices.
    • Continuous Learning and Improvement: Stay up to date with the latest developments in governance practise, tools and reporting. Continuously improve your knowledge and skills through self-learning, training, and participation in relevant conferences or workshops.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, data management, or information systems.
  • Should have experience working on multiple datasets (Example: Indices, Realtime/reference data, company data etc.
  • Should have experience of multiple products (Eg. Workspace, DataStream, DataScope, RDP etc)
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in data governance tools, databases, and metadata systems.
  •  Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to analyze data structures and processes.
  •  Communication: Excellent skills for liaising between technical and non-technical teams.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, or other relevant data regulations.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to address complex data issues with effective solutions.
  • Good to have
    • Professional certifications in data governance, data management, or related areas are a plus.
    • Technical understanding of database structure and knowledge of programming language like SQl, Python etc
