Developer Role Description Data Engineer (Mid-Level)

We are seeking a motivated mid-level data engineer to build and maintain the data pipelines, transformation logic, and reporting datasets that power analytics platform. The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Data Engineer and contribute to the ongoing development of the firm's Microsoft Fabric environment. Minimum 4+ years of experience required.

Core Responsibilities & Requirements

1. Data Engineering & Pipelines

• Experience building and maintaining ELT/ETL pipelines in a cloud data environment.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric pipelines, Azure Data Factory, or equivalent orchestration tools.
• Solid understanding of incremental load patterns, schema management, and data partitioning strategies.
• Familiarity with data quality checks, alerting, and pipeline monitoring.

2. Power BI & Reporting

• Ability to build and maintain Power BI datasets and reports to support business analytics needs.
• Understanding of the Power BI semantic layer, including measures, calculated columns, and row-level security.
• Experience working with business stakeholders to translate reporting requirements into data models.

3. Programming & Technical Skills

• Proficiency in SQL; working knowledge of Python for data transformation and scripting.
• Experience with relational databases, including SQL Server.
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and collaborative development practices.
• Minimum 4+ years of professional experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or related roles.

4. Nice to Have

• Python expertise for advanced data processing and automation workflows.
• Exposure to Microsoft Fabric or Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Experience with dbt for transformation layer development.
• Understanding of financial data structures or prior experience in a financial services environment.
