About the Team and the Role

The Data team at Ather is responsible for integrating core enterprise data, enforcing data governance and privacy, and implementing master data management to create a unified view across the organization.

This role is for a hands-on engineer who will lead the ingestion of critical data into the Data Lake, design robust data models, and deploy DataMarts to empower Sales, Service, and Marketing teams with high-quality, business-ready data.

Responsibilities

• Lead ingestion of structured and unstructured data from SAP and Salesforce into the Data Lake Bronze layer.

• Enforce Data Governance and DPDP compliance using Databricks Unity Catalog and PII masking/tokenization.

• Implement MDM solutions in the Silver Layer to create "golden records" for Customers and Vehicles.

• Design and deploy "Gold Layer" DataMarts and Customer 360 models to support business teams.

• Create curated datasets to support AI, Data Science, and self-serve analytics projects.

• Solve complex integration challenges by connecting disparate systems like SAP, Salesforce, and Ameyo.

• Design secure ingestion pipelines with a privacy-first mindset to protect PII.

• Lead technical data architecture and mentor junior engineers while ensuring long-term system thinking.

Experience and Qualifications

• 4-6 years of proven experience in data engineering and data modeling roles

Must Have Competencies

• Expertise in the Databricks Lakehouse Platform and Apache Spark framework.

• Advanced proficiency in Python and PySpark for complex data engineering tasks.

• Expert-level data modeling including dimensional modeling and Star/Snowflake schemas.

• Advanced practical experience with SAP and Salesforce enterprise data integration.

Good to have Competencies

• Familiarity with OLAP (e.g., Clickhouse) and OLTP (e.g., Postgres) database systems.

• Basic understanding of Master Data Management (MDM) solution building.

• Working knowledge of Databricks Unity Catalog for data lineage and access control.

• General understanding of DPDP Act requirements and PII tokenization strategies.
