Position Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Technical Architect specialising in Database and Middleware Solutions. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in designing, implementing, and optimising enterprise-grade database and middleware architectures. This role demands a visionary professional who can provide strategic direction, technical leadership, and hands-on expertise across a range of database and middleware platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the architectural design and implementation of robust, scalable, and secure database and middleware solutions to support business requirements.

Collaborate with business stakeholders, developers, and infrastructure teams to define solution architectures and integration strategies.

Evaluate, recommend, and implement database technologies (such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.) based on technical and business needs.

Design and configure middleware platforms (such as IBM WebSphere, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Apache Tomcat, JBoss, Microsoft IIS, etc.) for optimal performance and reliability.

Oversee database and middleware installation, configuration, upgrades, migrations, and troubleshooting.

Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and data integrity across all solutions.

Establish best practices for database and middleware management, including performance tuning, security, monitoring, and backup strategies.

Mentor and guide junior architects, database administrators, and middleware specialists.

Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in database and middleware solutions, proactively recommending improvements.

Document architectural designs, processes, and procedures for knowledge sharing and compliance.

Required Skills and Experience

Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in database and middleware architecture, design, and implementation.

Expertise in multiple database systems (RDBMS and NoSQL) such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.

In-depth knowledge of middleware technologies including IBM WebSphere, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Apache Tomcat, JBoss, Microsoft IIS, and others.

Proven experience in database and middleware performance tuning, security management, and disaster recovery planning.

Strong understanding of integration patterns, API management, and data modelling.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.

Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments and managing cross-functional teams.

Relevant certifications (such as Oracle Certified Architect, IBM Certified Solution Architect, etc.) are highly desirable.
