Role Summary
The Data Architect will define and govern the enterprise data architecture, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performance data platforms across cloud environments. This role will work closely with business, engineering, and platform teams to translate data strategy into robust technical designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Define end-to-end data architecture for analytics and data platforms
- Design scalable data lake / Lakehouse architectures using modern frameworks
- Establish data modelling standards, governance, and best practices
- Design, review, and govern conceptual, logical, and physical data models (dimensional, Data Vault, and domain-oriented models) to ensure scalability, performance, and consistency across platforms. Guide data engineers on design patterns, performance optimization, and cost control
- Review and approve high-level designs (HLDs), low-level designs (LLDs), and BRDs
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align data solutions with business outcomes
- Lead architecture reviews and mentor senior engineering staff
Core Technical Skills
- Experience in Data Engineering product implementation using Spark, SQL, ETL/ELT data warehouse / Lakehouse
- Experience in maintaining and optimizing a Data Lakehouse/Data Warehouse.
- Experience and strong knowledge of data modelling (3NF, dimensional. Data vault) data modelling.
- Strong knowledge of Python, Spark, PySpark
- RDBMS & advanced SQL
- Familiarity with modern table formats such as Apache Iceberg, Apache Hudi, or Delta Lake, including optimization and maintenance techniques
- Experience on one of the major clouds, preferably AWS or Azure.
- Experience in designing Data warehouse and data lake architectures
- Experience of designing Streaming data ingestion and processing
- NoSQL / Mongo knowledge is a plus
- Stakeholder Management
Experience
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering and architecture roles
Exposure to product engineering backgrounds is a strong plus, with emphasis on building scalable, data-driven platforms.
