Indian Centre for Academic Rankings & Excellence (ICARE) is hiring a Data Analyst & Visualisation Lead at its Mumbai headquarters.

This position is at the heart of MahaSTRIDE - a Government of Maharashtra initiative implemented through MITRA (Maharashtra Institution for Transformation), the State Data Authority, with support from the World Bank.

MahaSTRIDE is building data systems and analytics capabilities across Maharashtra State Universities to drive measurable improvement in national (NIRF, NAAC) and global (QS World Rankings, Times Higher Education, ARWU etc.) university rankings.

You will be the person who takes raw institutional data from universities and transforms it into dashboards, visualisations, and insights that guide strategy at the university and government level.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Design, build, and maintain real-time performance monitoring dashboards for universities using Power BI and / or Tableau

Analyse institutional data across academic, research, governance, outreach, and ranking parameters

Develop data pipelines and frameworks to standardise data collection and validation across universities

Create visual reports and analytical presentations for MITRA, university leadership, and World Bank review meetings

Work closely with the on-ground Data Analysts stationed at each university to ensure data quality and consistency

Support integration of university data with national ranking portals (NIRF) and global ranking agencies (QS, THE, ARWU)

Continuously improve the data infrastructure as the project scales

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field

Minimum 3-5+ years of experience in data analytics and dashboard development

Strong proficiency in Power BI and / or Tableau you must be able to build production-ready dashboards independently

Working knowledge of Python for data processing and automation

Experience with Excel at an advanced level - pivot tables, data modelling, complex formulas

Exposure to the education sector or public sector analytics is a strong advantage

Excellent communication skills - you will present findings to senior stakeholders including senior government officials

Comfortable working in a hybrid setup with periodic travel to universities across Maharashtra

COMPENSATION & DURATION

50,000 1,00,000+ per month, based on skills & experience

2-year contract, full-time, based at Mumbai HQ

Hybrid - primarily Mumbai HQ with periodic travel to university locations across Maharashtra

WHY THIS ROLE

This is not a routine analytics job. You will be building dashboards that go into government review meetings, informing decisions that affect thousands of students and faculty across Maharashtra. Your work will be seen by MITRA, the Government of Maharashtra, and the World Bank.
