CSSD - Incharge

1.      Accountable for overseeing CSSD workflow processes to ensure quality service.

2.      Accountable for direct supervision, guidance, support and participation in work flows to assist with processing of equipment and instruments.

3.      Demonstrate competency in all services to allow for participation and implementation of new processes as directed by Head of Department.

4.      Liaise with operation theatre staff and CSSD staff to ensure equipment is processed in timely manner.

5.      Ensure there is appropriate handover communication at each change of shift.

6.      Identify problems and work with HOD to resolve.

7.      Ensure accuracy of quality control processes is in compliance and relative to infection control standards.

8.      Understand policies, procedures and guidelines.

9.      Identify unsafe practice and respond appropriately to ensure safe outcome keeping HOD informed.

10.   Responsible for addressing and resolving errors.

11.   Accountable for ensuring CSSD technicians maintain a clean, tidy and safe work area at all times.

12.   Accountable to ensure that the correct decontamination processes are selected.

13.   Responsible for ensuring that dismantling of contaminated trolleys and packs prevent the loss of instruments or injury.

14.   Identify urgent equipment for priority processing.

15.   Accountable to ensure that instruments are inspected and tested for cleanliness and function as specified to meet all quality standards.

16.   Accountable for ensuring all sets are packaged in correct manner as specified.

17.   Supervise staff to ensure that all sets are complete and correct for the end user.

18.   Accountable for ensuring the correct method of sterilization processes are selected and used as appropriate.

19.   Responsible to ensure correct storage and distribution processes are maintained.

20.   In consultation with HOD ensure accurate list and recipes for equipment are maintained as well as notifying inaccurate list and equipment.

21.   Responsible for ensuring all statistics are correct and completed to as indicated.

22.   Responsible for ensuring that all machines meet test parameters and recording are endorsed with any error reported immediately.

23.   Ensure correct chemical usage, including safety compliance.

24.   To follow Instruction given by In-charge/HOD pertaining to department.
