Position Overview

The Critical Material Analyst is responsible for maintaining the master list of all critical raw materials and generating risk dashboards to provide visibility for decision-making. These dashboards support the IBP Supply Review process for materials (including CCM reviews and commodity health reviews) and help enable commercialization efforts. In addition, this role collaborates with the Network Optimization team and supports the Triforce model by monitoring TEXT alerts and escalating material risks. The analyst focuses on accurate data management, timely reporting, and supporting risk mitigation actions led by senior team members.


Key Responsibilities


  • Maintain and update the critical materials list, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Generate and refresh raw material risk dashboards for IBP SR, CCM reviews, and commercialization support.
  • Monitor TEXT alerts daily and escalate outages or risks through the Triforce process.
  • Provide data and insights to the Network Optimization team for scenario planning and volume-moving decisions.
  • Assist in preparing reports and presentations for risk reviews and S&OE meetings.



Secondary Responsibilities

Support digitization initiatives by enhancing dashboard automation and integrating risk visibility into IBP processes. This includes partnering with cross-functional teams to streamline data flows, improve reporting accuracy, and enable real-time insights for strategic decision-making.



Required Qualifications


Qualifications


Level of Education and Discipline -

Bachelors degree in supply chain, Business, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Coursework in data analytics, operations management, or logistics preferred.


Experience - functional/industry/commercial knowledge, business acumen

13 years in supply chain, materials planning, or data analytics. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage large datasets. Exposure to CPG manufacturing or distribution environments and familiarity with IBP or S&OP processes is a plus.

Interpersonal Skills - leadership, interactions, communication, influence

Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, matrixed environment. Clear and concise communication skills for presenting data-driven insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.


Other Skills and HPO Competencies

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data modeling). Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and ability to navigate material master data. Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau for dashboard creation. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in reporting and risk dashboards.


Preferred Qualifications


Level of Education and Discipline -

MBA or advanced degree in Supply Chain, Operations Research, or Business Analytics. Coursework in predictive modeling, optimization, or advanced planning systems is highly desirable.


Certification and/or Licenses -

APICS CPIM or CSCP certification preferred. Additional certifications in Lean Six Sigma or advanced analytics tools are a plus.

Hands-on experience with advanced analytics, scenario planning, and risk modeling for supply chain optimization. Familiarity with IBP processes and commercialization workflows. Prior experience in CPG manufacturing or distribution networks, leveraging digital tools for dashboard automation and predictive insights.

Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams (planning, procurement, manufacturing). Ability to clearly present data insights in meetings and reports.


Other Skills and HPO Competencies

Proficiency with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) for reporting. Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP preferred). Basic understanding of scenario planning and supply chain risk concepts. Comfort with advanced Excel functions; experience with automation tools or scripting (Python, SQL) is a plus


Supports visibility for a portfolio of high-risk materials impacting $5B in finished goods sales (all of McCormick!). Provides timely, accurate data to enable risk mitigation, commercialization success, and network optimization initiatives.
