Maersk Crewing is responsible for ensuring that over Maersk Vessels flying various flags are always manned with competent crew while complying with various international regulations and Company procedures. Our Crewing function, part of Marine People and Culture is run out of Mumbai, Singapore, Copenhagen and Manila while supported by regional Marine People teams based across Europe and Asia.

We are looking for a strong leader who can build and inspire a team, foster collaboration across functions, and continuously improve our crewing operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Based in Mumbai, you will report to the Head of Crewing in Singapore. You will have the operational responsibilities pertaining to Crewing in Mumbai, including:

• Manage the India Ratings and Documentation team. This team consists of teams which manage the planning of all Indian Ratings and the Documentary Compliance of all seafarers under Marine People Asia.

• Key Responsibilities

• People Leadership: Inspire, develop, and coach your team to achieve high performance and engagement. Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.                   

• Operational Excellence: Oversee all aspects of crew management, ensuring vessels are always manned in compliance with STCW, Flag State requirements, and company standards.

• Engagement & Retention: Build strong relationships with our seafaring colleagues and implement initiatives to enhance their experience and commitment to Maersk.

• Talent Development: Support the career progression of seafarers through structured development programs and succession planning.

• Process Improvement: Regularly review and enhance crew operations processes, ensuring compliance with service level agreements, standard operating procedures, and key performance indicators. Ensure alignment with other strategic initiatives.

• Strategic Alignment: Work closely with the global Crewing team to ensure alignment with business objectives and strategic initiatives.

Who we are looking for

• The ideal candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's/College Degree, Business Studies/ Administration/ Management and preferably have extensive experience specializing in Manning/Crewing or equivalent.

• Having sailed as a Senior officer on board will be an advantage.

• Has proven leadership experience with a strong track record as an empathetic and inspiring people leader, who cares deeply for coaching, and team development.

• You:

  • A strong natural drive for results, excellent stakeholder management skills

  • Have solid knowledge of the international maritime industry

  • Possess a proactive and positive attitude, enthusiasm and ability to cooperate in an always open and constructive manner

  • Ability to plan and execute in a structured manner is critical to succeed in the position

  • Fluency in English and strong communication skills in an international setting.
