Job Description

Job Description: Credit Manager (AVP)

Function: Affordable Housing Finance

Grade: Assistant Vice President (AVP)

Locations: Bangalore / Pune

Reports to: Regional Credit Manager / National Credit Head

Compensation: Up to 17 LPA (Fixed + Variable)

Role Objective

The Location Credit Manager will be responsible for leading the credit underwriting function for the Affordable Housing segment within the assigned location. The role demands a strategic balance between maintaining high portfolio quality and enabling business growth through efficient turnaround times (TAT). You will be responsible for assessing the creditworthiness of customersoften from the informal income segmentand ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal risk frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

1. Credit Underwriting & Assessment

  • Appraise and underwrite loan applications for Affordable Housing and Loan Against Property (LAP).
  • Expertly analyze informal income profiles, conducting "Cash Flow" assessments for self-employed customers who may lack traditional financial documentation.
  • Perform personal discussions (PD) with applicants to verify business stability and repayment capacity.

2. Risk Management & Portfolio Quality

  • Maintain the Non-Performing Asset (NPA) levels within the budgeted limits for the location.
  • Identify early warning signals in the portfolio and initiate proactive measures for risk mitigation.
  • Ensure 100% adherence to KYC, AML, and RBI guidelines related to housing finance.

3. Operational Excellence (TAT)

  • Manage the end-to-end credit process from login to sanction, ensuring industry-leading Turnaround Time (TAT).
  • Coordinate with the Sales and Operations teams to resolve documentation queries and process bottlenecks.

4. Technical & Legal Oversight

  • Liaise with external vendors for property valuation (Technical) and title search reports (Legal).
  • Ensure that all collateral is legally enforceable and technically viable according to company norms.

5. Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Mentor and supervise a team of Credit Managers/Officers.
  • Conduct regular training sessions on policy updates and market trends for both credit and sales teams.

Candidate Profile

  • Education: CA / MBA (Finance) / Post-Graduate in a related field.
  • Experience: 710 years of experience in Retail Credit, with at least 45 years specifically in Affordable Housing Finance .
  • Skillset:
  • Deep understanding of the local real estate market in Bangalore or Pune.
  • Proficiency in financial statement analysis and cash-flow-based lending.
  • Strong decision-making skills with an ability to balance risk and business targets.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with informal-segment customers and senior management.
