Role Description

• You’ll be joining the Commercial Bank Tribe, who is focusing on the special needs of the small and medium enterprise clients in Germany, a designated area for further growth and investment within Corporate Bank. 

• We are responsible for the digital transformation of ~800.000 clients in 3 brands, i.e. the establishment of the BizBanking platform including development of digital sales and service processes as well as the automation of processes for this client segment. 

• Our tribe is on a journey of an extensive digitalisation of business processes and to migrate our applications to the cloud. On that we are working jointly together with our business colleagues in an agile setup and collaborating closely with stakeholders and engineers from other areas thriving to achieve a highly automated and adoptable process and application landscape. 

As a Full Stack Engineer, you will:

• Work across backend, frontend, infrastructure, and data engineering domains.

• Design, build, and scale cloud-based applications.

• Productionalize backend services with focus on performance, security, and maintainability.

• Support DevOps workflows incl. infrastructure automation and CI/CD pipelines.

• Ensure seamless integration of APIs and backend systems.

• Collaborate with product and business teams to translate user stories into technical solutions.

• Contribute in an agile environment, incl. sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives.

• Demonstrate technical excellence and establish best practices that set the standard for the team.

• Helping with feedback to improve our way of working.

Your key responsibilities

• Develop and deploy data-driven backend applications in cloud environments.

• Write clean, maintainable code in Java and/or Python, adhering to clean code principles. 

• Design and enhance system architectures for scalability and resilience.

• Perform code reviews and enforce clean code principles.

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, write and maintain unit and integration tests for reliable software delivery.

• Provision and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker.

• Apply concepts of deployments and configurations in GKE/OpenShift. 

• Integrate with external systems and consume APIs.

• Contribute to frontend development using JavaScript when required.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs.

Your skills and experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

• Proven experience as a Full Stack Engineer, Software Engineer or Backend Engineer.

• Proficiency in Python and Java. Commitment to maintainable, modular, reusable code, adhering to clean code principles.

• Hands-on experience with tools and frameworks like Apache Beam and Spring Boot, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD tools, GitHub Actions.

• Familiarity with at least one major cloud provider: GCP, AWS, or Azure.

• Experience with JavaScript and modern frontend frameworks.

• Strong understanding of software architecture, system integration.

• Familiarity with  DevOps and infrastructure practices.

• Experience working in agile methodologies and delivering business-driven solutions.

• Proven track record of owning and driving initiatives from start to finish.
