IB Core Technology was formed to engineering the best common platforms and services for the Investment Bank, supporting the demands of the business. We also lead and consult on data and architecture strategies for the division and across Technology. We are looking for an engineer to join this exciting and innovating department.
ABACUS
We are looking for an engineer to join our Abacus application team. Abacus is a critical application used across the Investment Bank to implement and enforce regulatory driven Preventative Controls in the Trading Businesses. Abacus is also used for user authorisation.
As a Java Engineer, you will work alongside other talented engineers and bring modern technologies and approaches into supporting multiple business domains across Deutsche Bank. It is a fast-paced team with huge business impact.

Your Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop new functionality on Java and optionally Kotlin
- Work with the business and BAs on functional and non-functional requirements
- Co-working with QA team on test automation of new and existing functionality
- Investigate and fix production incidents, drive stability and monitoring improvements
- Design and implement subsystems and intersystem protocols
- Strong communication and problem solving skills
Your Skills and Experience:
- Several years of experience and excellent knowledge of Java
- Kotlin as a nice to have
- Proficiency in high-load distributed systems design: knowledge of consistency models, API types and tradeoffs
- Good knowledge of algorithms, complexity, data structures
- Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases
- Basic knowledge of of modern Cloud technologies, i.e. k8s, ArgoCD, Grafana Tanka
- Basic knowledge of Linux
- Experience with modern SDLC tools - Git, JIRA, Artifactory, Jenkins is a plus
