Role: COO / Head Operations & Quality

Location: Hyderabad

Our client is a quality-driven generics pharmaceutical manufacturing organisation with a strong presence in regulated global markets. As part of its leadership expansion, the organisation is appointing a COO / Head Operations & Quality to lead manufacturing excellence, quality governance, and operational transformation.

This role has end-to-end responsibility for manufacturing operations, quality (QA, QC, and regulatory compliance), supply chain, and engineering across multiple sites. The business objective is clear: deliver consistently high-quality products with strong cost efficiency.

The COO will be expected to stabilise and standardise operations, strengthen execution across plants, and ensure quality systems are embedded into daily operations rather than managed as a parallel function. The mandate includes improving productivity, asset utilisation, and cost structures without compromising compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead multi-site formulations manufacturing operations with clear accountability for performance
• Own global quality systems and sustained inspection readiness for USFDA, EMA, and other regulators
• Drive productivity, cost, and efficiency improvements through practical operational interventions
• Strengthen supply chain reliability for regulated markets
• Lead engineering, capacity expansion, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Build and develop strong site and functional leadership teams

Candidate Profile:

• 20+ years of experience in generic formulations or other regulated manufacturing environments
• Strong technical grounding in manufacturing operations and quality systems
• Proven experience running multi-site operations with direct cost and performance responsibility
• Sound financial and operational judgement, with the ability to link plant decisions to P&L outcomes
• Open to candidates from pharma as well as other manufacturing sectors with relevant scale and quality exposure
