Job Description

About Us

Join a team that is redefining the accessibility of space. Azista space is a transformative force in the global aerospace sector, uniquely positioned at the intersection of indigenous innovation and industrial scalability. Operating Indias first private-sector satellite mass-production facility in Ahmedabad, we have bridged the gap between complex engineering and high-volume manufacturing.

As a vertically integrated leader, we provide end-to-end solutions from the precision design of satellite buses and advanced payloads to mission management and communication systems. We dont just build hardware, we are democratizing the final frontier by providing global clientele with the cost-effective, high-performance technology needed to power the next generation of orbital missions. At Azista, you won't just be starting a job, youll be fueling the future of space exploration.

Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled Control Engineer to design, develop, and optimize advanced control algorithms for space-grade electric motor-driven systems, including BLDC, PMSM, and stepper motors. This hands-on role focuses on embedded implementation, system modeling, high-performance motion control, and validation for mission-critical aerospace applications at Azista Space.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement cutting-edge control algorithms for BLDC motors, PMSM (FOC, DTC, sensorless/sensored control), and stepper motors (microstepping, current control, precision positioning).
  • Develop motor control firmware for embedded platforms (MCUs, DSPs, FPGAs) using real-time embedded C/C++/Python.
  • Build and tune multi-loop controllers (PI/PID, advanced observers like PLL, SMO, back-EMF) for current, speed, and position control.
  • Perform system modeling, simulation, and optimization using MATLAB/Simulink for efficiency, torque ripple reduction, noise mitigation, and thermal management.
  • Integrate algorithms with power electronics (inverters, gate drivers, PWM techniques) and peripherals (ADC, PWM timers, encoders).
  • Execute hardware-in-loop testing, debugging, validation on test benches, and support system integration/field troubleshooting.
  • Document control algorithms, software designs, and tuning processes for cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications & Skill Set

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with 2+ years in motor control, or Masters in Control Systems with relevant experience.

Technical Expertise:

  • Deep knowledge of motor theory (BLDC, PMSM, stepper), feedback control systems, and power electronics (DC-DC converters, inverters, PWM).
  • Proficiency in embedded programming (C/C++, Python) for real-time motor control; experience with CAN, SPI, I2C, UART protocols.
  • Hands-on with MATLAB/Simulink for modeling/algorithm development, motor tuning, hardware bring-up, and debugging.

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional analytical/problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative mindset for cross-functional work with hardware, firmware, and mechanical teams.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and multitasking abilities in fast-paced startup environments.
