Job Description:
The compliance Associate will be responsible for building and running the compliance function that ensures full adherence to RBI regulations, other applicable laws, and internal policies, while actively managing compliance risk across products and processes
Roles & Responsibilities
Regulatory Oversight and compliance framework
Ensure strict observance of all statutory and regulatory requirements applicable to the NBFC, including RBI Master Directions, scalebased regulations, KYC/AML, fair practices and digital lending norms
Draft, implement and periodically update a Boardapproved Compliance Policy and related manuals, codes of conduct and SOPs
Monitor regulatory developments (RBI circulars, FIU, MCA, state laws) and drive timely impact analysis and implementation across the organization
Compliance risk identification and monitoring
Identify compliance risks in existing and new products, processes, outsourcing arrangements and partnerships, and recommend appropriate risk mitigants
Participate in new product/changemanagement committees and ensure intensive monitoring of new products and processes
Design and execute a riskbased compliance monitoring and testing plan; report findings, root causes and remediation status to senior management and the Board
Policies, processes, and internal controls
Review and clear new or revised policies, procedures, customer documents and marketing materials for regulatory and policy compliance before rollout
Ensure appropriate internal controls exist in operating processes (onboarding, underwriting, disbursal, servicing, collections, recovery, outsourcing) to prevent violations
Reporting, governance and liaison with regulators
Prepare and submit required regulatory returns and compliance certificates, and maintain robust documentation/evidence for inspections
Periodically report the status of compliance risk, key breaches, and remediation to the Board and support them in their oversight responsibilities
Act as nodal point of contact for RBI and other regulators: handle inspection queries, coordinate responses, and ensure timebound closure of inspection observations
Skills & Qualifications
Graduate / Postgraduate with 2 - 4 years of experience in Fintechs or NBFCs
Prefer LLB / CS
Strong knowledge of RBI NBFC regulatory framework and practical exposure to inspections or regulatory interactions
Ability to design and operationalize compliance frameworks, perform riskbased monitoring, and communicate effectively with senior management, Board and regulators
High integrity and independence, with the confidence to challenge business decisions that create unacceptable compliance risk
