Commercial Director - Project & Development Services

Job Description Summary

The candidate will support the Investors and Occupiers divisions of the Project & Development Services, India (“Company”), as the regional lead on all contract matters, working together with the Company’s support functions (including legal, compliance, risk, etc.) to drive growth and profitability while ensuring contracts are reviewed and executed following the Company’s policies and processes.

Job Description

Contracts

  • Lead the internal review of upstream and downstream contracts alongside the Company’s support functions including legal, compliance, risk, data privacy, information security, etc.
  • Coordinate the submission and approval of dispensation requests to the regional or global Head of Legal and Head of Compliance
  • Ensure that commercial approaches towards contract matters are consistent and coordinated in-country and across the region
  • Develop, maintain and update the Company’s in-house contract templates in alignment with the Company’s needs and market norms

Consulting

  • Identify areas where the Company’s policies and processes can be improved or made more efficient, and drive the necessary efforts to implement such improvements
  • Educate and influence the in-country Head/Deputy Head of Service on the best practices in contract matters
  • Educate and influence the Company’s support functions on the broader business objectives, challenges, and needs
  • Stay abreast of industry developments relating to contract matters

Negotiation

  • Support the in-country Head/Deputy Head of Service on negotiation of client contracts
  • Advise the in-country Head/Deputy Head of Service on negotiation of subcontracts
  • Support the regional sales team on regional and global pitches, request for proposals and master service agreements

Day-to-day Support

  • Develop, maintain and update high-level project trackers for the Company’s visibility and reference
  • Support the Company on operational matters related to project delivery
  • Advise the Company on potential claims and dispute matters, and possible resolution of such matters

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or a recognised equivalent) in quantity surveying, construction management, building science or similar areas.
  • 10+ years of experience in a commercial or contract role within the broader building and construction industry.
  • Work experience in a large and diverse multi-national company is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Professional accreditation from recognised local/global industry institutions e.g. RICS, CIOB, etc. is preferred but not mandatory.
