Cloudant is looking for a motivated backend software engineer to join our team. You will be part of integrating our database into IBM Cloud with a particular focus on working on our migration to a new, Kubernetes-based platform. This will enable Cloudant’s continued delivery as a serverless, cloud-based database service. Successful candidates will be building services written in Python and Go, delivered using Kubernetes.
What you’ll doWork with Cloudant’s technical leadership to deconstruct high level needs into technical deliverables and project milestones.
Take part in planning and executing our migration to a new Kubernetes-based platform.
Independently analyse, code and deploy features to production.
Lead small teams to deliver projects, ensuring high quality deliverables.
Maintain our strong culture of code reviews and feedback for continuous improvement.
Use automated CI and CD pipelines to deploy regularly.
Strong skills in one or more modern backend programming languages (eg Go, Python, Rust, Java).
Experience with container orchestration (eg, Kubernetes, AWS EKS, Google GKE, Nomad).
A proven ability to guide and grow the skills of junior engineers.
Enthusiasm for helping our support team resolve customer problems and improve our platform.
Confidence working in an environment that prioritises written communication.
Fluency in English and a capability to thrive in a global, multicultural and diverse environment.
Writing large quantities of production code in Go.
Writing Kubernetes operators (in any language).
Delivering stateful systems on Kubernetes (eg, database operators using StatefulSets).
Acting as technical leader to small groups of engineers working on several features concurrently.
Strong skills in one or more modern backend programming languages (eg Go, Python, Rust, Java).
Experience with container orchestration (eg, Kubernetes, AWS EKS, Google GKE, Nomad).
