Position Summary

We are seeking a high-impact Principal Azure Data Engineering Architect with 20+ years of experience to lead our data engineering team from both a technical and business development perspective. In this dual-capacity role, you will be the technical visionary for our Microsoft Fabric and Generative AI offerings while simultaneously leading the Pre-sales and RFP lifecycle. You will bridge the gap between complex client requirements and winning technical solutions, leveraging your deep functional understanding of SAP, SQL, and API ecosystems.

Pre-Sales & Strategic Business Growth

• RFP & Proposal Leadership: Lead the end-to-end technical response for RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs. Design high-level solution architectures, estimate resource efforts, and define delivery timelines.
• Solution Design & Scoping: Conduct discovery workshops with C-suite stakeholders to identify business pain points and translate them into scalable Azure/Fabric solution blueprints.
• Customer Advocacy & Demos: Deliver high-impact technical presentations and "Proof of Value" (PoV) sessions, demonstrating the business value of Microsoft Fabric and OneLake.
• Estimation & Pricing: Collaborate with sales and delivery teams to create detailed pricing models, and Statements of Work (SoW).
• Strategic Roadmapping: Help clients visualize their 3-5 year data transformation journey, moving from legacy systems (SAP/Oracle/Others) to modern AI-ready cloud platforms.

Technical & Functional Leadership

• Fabric & OneLake Orchestration: Architect enterprise Data Lakehouses using Microsoft Fabric, focusing on the Medallion architecture and unified storage in OneLake.
• Multi-Source Integration: Design high-throughput ingestion frameworks for SAP (S/4HANA, ECC), Oracle, MySQL, RDS, and REST/OData APIs and other systems.
• Functional Expertise: Apply 20+ years of functional knowledge in core business processes (Finance, Supply Chain, Sales) to ensure data models align with real-world business logic.
• AI Integration: Architect data foundations for Azure OpenAI and Copilot, ensuring data quality and governance are optimized for LLM consumption.
• Governance & Security: Implement enterprise-grade security and lineage using Microsoft Purview across hybrid cloud environments.

Technical Skills Required

• Platforms: Microsoft Fabric (Mandatory), Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory.
• Data Sources: SAP (ODP, SLT, CDC), Oracle, MySQL, REST/OData APIs, and NoSQL.
• Languages: SQL, Python/PySpark, DAX, and PowerShell.
• Standards: Expertise in Data Mesh, Data Contract, and DataOps methodologies.

Qualifications & Soft Skills

• Experience: 20+ years in IT; 10+ years in Azure/Cloud Data; 5+ years in a Pre-sales or Solution Architecture lead role.
• Communication: Elite communication and storytelling skills; ability to influence decision-makers at the executive level.
• Strategic Mindset: Proven track record of winning multi-million dollar data transformation deals through compelling RFP responses.
