Job Description

  1. Essential Skills & Knowledge:


  1. Therapeutic Modalities:Proficient in a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. Specific experience with trauma-informed approaches (e.g., EMDR) is highly desirable.
  2. Assessment & Diagnosis:Demonstrated expertise in conducting comprehensive psychological assessments, including administering and interpreting standardised psychological tests (e.g., MMPI, Beck Depression Inventory, etc.) Knowledge of ICD diagnostic criteria for anxiety disorders, mood disorders, OCD, PTSD, ADHD, and other specified conditions.
  3. Treatment Planning & Implementation:Ability to develop individualised treatment plans based on thorough assessment findings, and effectively implement these plans within a collaborative framework.
  4. Crisis Intervention:Experience in providing crisis intervention and managing patients in acute distress.
  5. Case Management:Proven ability to manage a caseload effectively, including maintaining accurate documentation, scheduling appointments, and communicating with patients and other healthcare professionals.
  6. Group Therapy Facilitation:Experience in conducting and leading effective group therapy sessions for various patient populations and presenting issues.
  7. Specific Conditions Expertise:Demonstrated proficiency in treating anxiety disorders, panic disorders, phobias, OCD, depression, PTSD, adult ADHD, marital/relationship issues, and individuals experiencing delusions.
  8. Understanding of Indian Culture and Context:Sensitivity and awareness of the cultural nuances and socio-economic factors that may influence the mental health of patients in Bangalore. Knowledge of local resources would be beneficial.

  5. Time Management & Organization:Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks, ensuring efficient caseload management.
  6. Professionalism & Punctuality:Maintaining a high level of professionalism in all interactions, arriving punctually for appointments and meetings.
  7. Self-Awareness & Reflective Practice:Commitment to ongoing professional development and self-reflection, demonstrating a willingness to learn and grow as a therapist.
  8. Resilience & Stress Management:Ability to manage stress effectively and maintain composure in challenging situations.


III. Desirable Qualifications:


  1. Relevant postgraduate degree (M.Phil or Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology) from a recognised Indian university.
  2. Registration with the relevant regulatory body in India (e.g., Rehabilitation Council of India).
  3. Experience working in a similar clinical setting, particularly in Bangalore.
  4. Fluency in Kannada (in addition to English) is a significant advantage.
