Job Summary
As a Client Tax Senior Associate within the Corporate & Investment Bank, you will be responsible for executing key business objectives, managing processes, and mitigating business risks for key client/partner relationships. You will lead a team of 5-6 members, monitoring nostro queues and processing tax refund monies. This dynamic role requires consistent compliance, control, and operational excellence in response to regulatory and market changes. You will leverage your deep understanding of tax technical knowledge and strong analytical acumen to make informed decisions for our businesses. Job responsibilities
- Lead Operations teams in Mumbai supporting the Corporate & Investment Bank “CIB.” & Act as the senior escalation point for the local team members
- Monitoring & Reporting of Tax Payables / Receivable accounts , Monitoring & Reporting of Nostro queues, Processing of Tax Refund monies
- Partnering with the Tax Operations team globally to execute tax services for CIB clients.
- Ensure a strong and stable operational environment with robust controls, checks and balances., Ensure a client-centric approach is core across the team. and be compliant with applicable laws and regulations.
- Ensure a consistent focus on the people agenda – soft-skill coaching and technical training, talent management and retention, clear succession plan and critical activity coverage, rewards, and recognition.
- Ensure a clear, regular, and consistent communication plan across the team, Good knowledge of end-to-end process flow, SOPs, and validation points. Have a good industry knowledge of International Tax reclaims processing, Influence technology on system enhancements and ability to articulate stakeholders on various change management initiatives.
- Developing and implementing tools to manage and improve quality and accuracy. Identify opportunities for process efficiency & implement in a controlled manner.
- Is responsible for decision making about the handling of various types of scenarios critical for the business and for accuracy and timely completion and undertaking the day-to-day operations within the team, acting as the point of contact for the aligned country or line of business, ensuing tax compliance obligations are met, control procedures are adhered, and internal stakeholders are regularly communicated with.
- Gaining familiarity with key tax regulatory requirements and their impact on global teams across the firm.
- Understands Hands-on approach to core delivery & execution of operations across lines of business
- Monitor failure queues, mailboxes, and databases to ensure all items are cleared in a timely manner & Identify & escalate all error/exceptions on identification.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills.
- Graduate or Post-Graduate with 8+ years’ experience in operations.
- Familiarity with a Taxation and Tax Operations for various Markets
- Ability to drive results through a "hands-on" approach.
- Enthusiastic and articulate with excellent communication and written skills with clear, concise & logical documentation ability.
- Must be able to maintain and operate in an environment of high standards of risk and control.
- Detail oriented and ability to work in a dynamic environment with conflicting priorities.
- Strong analytical skills to review evolving market practices, assess oversight metrics, results identify trends.
- Demonstrate high emotional intelligence, with sound networking and influencing skills.
- Team player with ability to work with colleagues in a collaborative manner, as well as being able to proactively progress multiple tasks independently.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Skilled in MS office applications including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Relevant Tax market knowledge, industry experience, and industry related benchmark qualification
- Knowledge of financial markets and banking.
- Minimum experience of 5+ years as a Chartered Accountant or equivalent degree (Big 4 experience added advantage)
- Advanced knowledge of Alteryx, Tableau and UI path
