About the Team and the Role

The Circuits team at Ather is responsible for the design and development of core electronic hardware  that power our intelligent vehicles. It ensures Ather’s superior product positioning through cutting-edge technology , competitor benchmarking and platform reuse while adhering to strict QS standards and corporate values.

This role is for a Circuits Lead Engineer who will focus on the design and analysis of the electronic implementation of Battery Management Systems (BMS), mentor other team members, and manage technical risks to ensure critical project milestones are met with high design quality within the given timeline.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize product differentiators and drive platform reuse to optimize cost, quality, and time-to-market.

• Lead detailed design calculations, Worst Case Analysis (WCA), and tolerance analyses to meet system specifications.

• Manage technical risks by leading DFMEA reviews and implementing controls to reduce RPN.

• Work with the Circuits Team Lead to work around and resolve any bandwidth constraints to ensure project milestones are met without compromising quality.

• Prepare and execute Engineering DVT plans, ensuring robust debugging and resolution of JIRA issues with RCA reports.

• Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on field failures and drive CAPA implementation across NPD and operations.

• Mentor the development team through regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and curated training plans for upskilling.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Validation, New Product Development, and Software, to define manufacturing test plans and enhance yield.

Experience and Qualifications

• B.Tech/M.Tech with specialization in Electrical or Electronics Engineering

• 8-10 years of experience in the design and development of BMS for Li-Ion chemistries

Must Have Competencies

• Experience of implementing at least one electrical subsystem of medium complexity (e.g. Battery Management System, Analog sensing systems, Power supplies etc.

• Analog Front End (AFE) application design and detailed circuit analysis.

• Analog and digital system design including current sensors and precision amplifiers.

• Execution of Worst Case Analysis (WCA), tolerance analysis, and circuit simulations.

• Advanced knowledge of PCB layout and consequent parasitic effects.

Good to Have Competencies

• Battery Management System (BMS) design, analysis, and specification development.

• Implementation of Li-Ion battery safety standards and lifecycle analysis methodologies.

• Application of DFM, DFA, DFC, and DFR principles for hardware cost and manufacturing optimization.

• Proficiency in using LTSpice/PSPICE, and ORCAD for schematic design and circuit simulation.

• Management of Engineering DVT, thermal testing, and safety/regulatory pre-compliance testing.
