Job Description
The CTO for Muthoot FinCorp Limited (MFL) is responsible for enterprise-wide leadership for technology strategy, digital platforms, and IT governance for the MFL. The role ensures that technology capabilities enable business growth, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and competitive differentiation, while managing risk, cost, and organizational scale across a PAN-India footprint.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Enterprise Technology Strategy & Architecture
- Define and own the enterprise technology strategy aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and govern the enterprise architecture covering applications, infrastructure, cloud, data, and integration platforms.
- Translate business strategy into multi-year technology roadmaps with clear investment priorities and outcomes.
- Ensure alignment of technology initiatives across all Strategic Business Units.
- Put in place all SLAs and SOPs related to IT procedures. Ensure periodic communication of the same to user departments
Applications development and management
- Engage in periodic discussions with key stakeholders in the business to understand pain areas
- Provide strategic inputs for application development blue-print aligning with business requirement
- Engage with key vendors to create technology solutions and applications that can resolve business needs in a cost-effective manner and are also relevant to current & future needs of the business
- Define the budgets, resources and costs required to run existing applications and build new ones.
- Monitor lifecycle of the applications and take necessary steps to phase out or introduce new ones as per the requirements of the business and its expansion
- Govern critical processes for provision of support for enterprise and business applications e.g. SAP, CRM, HRIS etc.
- Ensure creation of adequate checks, controls and authorization within business/ functional applications and their usage across the organization
- Monitor and periodically review procedures for troubleshooting and resolving queries from user departments
- Supervise the management of all applications/ software licenses as per standard norms. Ensure timely renewal or upgradation
Infrastructure and operations management
- Oversee creation of the plan and requirement for IT infrastructure in discussion with key stakeholders
- Provide strategic direction for infrastructure and cloud deployment models to ensure scalability, resilience, and cost efficiency.
- Ensure high availability, business continuity, disaster recovery, and cyber resilience
- Direct and manage all infrastructure planning, management, and support activities for areas of responsibility, by developing and enforcing infrastructure standards e.g., policies, procedures, processes, architecture
- Oversee vendor performance and service quality within agreed SLAs and budgets
- Ensure proper trouble-shooting procedures are implemented and SOPs are adhered to
- Provide technical inputs for procurement of IT Hardware and any other system requirements as per the budgeted plans
Innovation projects and data governance
- Identify key strategic projects and lead technology-driven innovation initiatives focused on automation, efficiency, and service quality enable execution of the same
- Identify key technology/ infrastructure upgrade requirements and align key stakeholders on the same
- Support the business to identify and execute digitization projects to make processes more efficient
- Enable data convergence across all branches and operations of Muthoot Fincorp
Risk, Compliance & Governance
- Ensure technology compliance with RBI guidelines, internal policies, and audit requirements.
- Partner with Risk, CCO, CISO, and Internal Audit to strengthen IT controls and governance.
- Ensure audit readiness, documentation, and timely closure of technology-related observations.
- Manage third-party and vendor technology risk
Team management and development
- Define roles & responsibilities for key roles in the function in order to enable role clarity
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Drive performance management, capability development, and talent retention across the function.
- Develop goals for the team and enable alignment/ cascading of the same
- Review performance of team on regular basis and provide objective feedback
- Identify training needs, roll out capability building programs and enable team members to deliver better in their current role
- Enable employee engagement and motivation through appropriate reward & recognition mechanisms
KEY INTERACTIONS
Internal Stakeholders
CEO: functional performance reviews and taking specific inputs/advice on functional matters
Business and Functional Heads: alignment on projects, key operational issues resolution and overall change management
Finance: for financial performance and budget review of overall function
Procurement: for finalization of vendors
Internal audit: documentation & compliance aspects related to SOPs, taking specific actions
Other Assurance Functions: DPO, Enterprise Risk and Compliance
External Stakeholders
Vendors: to drive performance and manage service levels, operational concerns etc.
Consultants/ Advisors: for specific technology related strategic inputs
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualification:
Graduate in Computer Science (B.E/B.Tech/ BCA) with an MBA in IT/ Systems or MCA
Nature of Experience:
- Minimum of 18-20 years of experience in information technology with 5-7 years of functional leadership experience in driving key aspects like application development, technology solutions, digital innovation, and database convergence & management
- In-depth knowledge of NBFC industry and ability to leverage technology for competitive advantage
- Strong understanding of the business, ability to provide partnership and enable change
- Strong leadership, strategic planning, and communication skills
- Ability to manage relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Strong governance and process orientation
