Overview

Our client is appointing a Chief Technology Officer to lead the next phase of growth for an enterprise-grade software platform serving large global organisations, including Fortune 500 companies.

The business has an established, commercially proven product delivering measurable outcomes within complex enterprise environments. It is beyond early validation and firmly in scale-up mode. Revenue is growing, customer sophistication is increasing, and sustained ARR expansion is a central strategic objective.

The platform sits at the intersection of large-scale data engineering, applied artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity risk intelligence. It ingests and structures high-volume, multi-source enterprise data and applies advanced machine learning to generate contextual, prioritised insight that enables faster and more informed decision-making.

AI is not peripheral - it underpins the intelligence of the system. Machine learning drives detection, correlation, prioritisation, and continuous adaptation across dynamic enterprise infrastructures.

As the company accelerates ARR growth and expands its enterprise footprint, the CTO will ensure the architecture, AI capabilities, infrastructure, and engineering organisation scale accordingly - technically, operationally, and organisationally.

This is a build-and-scale mandate within a business that already has enterprise validation. The next phase is about strengthening technical foundations, accelerating innovation, and ensuring the platform supports materially larger revenue, customer, and global deployment complexity.


Mandate & Responsibilities

1. Technology Strategy & Architectural Leadership

  • Define and evolve the long-term technical vision and system architecture underpinning the platform.
  • Ensure scalability, modularity, security, and performance at enterprise-grade levels expected by Fortune 500 clients.
  • Establish architectural principles that allow innovation without sacrificing stability or resilience.
  • Align technical roadmap decisions with ARR growth targets and commercial expansion strategy.
  • Maintain forward-looking awareness of advancements in distributed systems, AI, and cloud infrastructure, integrating them where they create competitive advantage.

2. AI & Machine Learning Excellence

  • Lead the development and industrialisation of machine learning models that power detection, prioritisation, contextual intelligence, and workflow optimisation.
  • Ensure AI capabilities are explainable, measurable, production-ready, and continuously improving.
  • Implement robust MLOps frameworks covering deployment, monitoring, retraining, and governance.
  • Embed responsible AI standards appropriate for large enterprise and regulated environments.
  • Balance automation with human oversight to deliver trusted, enterprise-grade outcomes.

3. Platform Engineering & Delivery Discipline

  • Oversee the end-to-end engineering lifecycle, ensuring consistent, high-quality product delivery.
  • Drive DevOps maturity, infrastructure-as-code practices, and strong operational governance.
  • Optimise system scalability, uptime, latency, and resilience across global deployments.
  • Reduce client time-to-value through efficient onboarding, rapid data integration, and streamlined deployment processes.
  • Proactively manage technical debt to support long-term platform health.

4. Organisational Scale & Leadership

  • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing engineering and data science organisation capable of supporting sustained ARR growth.
  • Establish clear operating rhythms, accountability frameworks, and performance metrics.
  • Develop leadership depth to support increasing organisational complexity.
  • Foster a culture that combines technical rigour, curiosity, and disciplined execution.

5. Commercial & Executive Alignment

  • Partner with Product, Commercial, and Client teams to ensure technology investment directly supports revenue growth and market positioning.
  • Contribute to capital allocation decisions across infrastructure and R&D.
  • Provide technical credibility in investor and enterprise customer engagements.
  • Ensure technology strategy strengthens long-term enterprise value and competitive differentiation.

6. External Technical Leadership

  • Represent the companys technical strategy with enterprise clients, strategic partners, and stakeholders.
  • Translate architectural sophistication and AI capability into clear commercial narratives.
  • Reinforce the organisations reputation as a technically credible, enterprise-scale platform provider.


Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will combine architectural depth, AI fluency, and experience scaling enterprise software platforms.

Key attributes include:

  • Senior technical leadership experience (CTO, VP Engineering, Chief Architect or equivalent) within enterprise software environments.
  • Experience supporting large, complex clients, ideally including Fortune 500 organisations.
  • Proven ability to design and scale distributed, cloud-native systems handling high-volume data environments.
  • Demonstrated experience embedding AI/ML into live enterprise platforms.
  • Experience scaling engineering teams in growth-stage or venture-backed businesses.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to align technology decisions with ARR growth objectives.
  • Executive-level communication skills and credibility at board level.

Information Security Responsibilities

Security is foundational to the platform and its enterprise client base.

The CTO will:

  • Ensure secure-by-design principles are embedded across architecture and engineering processes.
  • Maintain strict governance around data handling and access controls.
  • Promote compliance with relevant enterprise and regulatory security standards.
  • Champion a culture of accountability around information security.
