About the Role

The Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) will lead the end-to-end procurement and supply chain function for large-scale Solar EPC projects. The role is responsible for strategic sourcing of solar modules, inverters, MMS, BOS materials, and EPC services while ensuring cost optimization, supply security, statutory compliance, and margin protection. The CPO will act as a strategic business partner to Projects, Engineering, and Finance to enable scalable and profitable growth.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Sourcing & Commercial Leadership
• Develop long-term sourcing strategy for:
• Solar Modules (ALMM compliant)
• Inverters (String/Central)
• Module Mounting Structures (MMS)
• Cables (DC/AC/HT/LT)
• Transformers, RMUs, SCADA & BOS
• Negotiate techno-commercial contracts with Tier-1 OEMs.
• Drive cost leadership through rate contracts and volume aggregation.
• Monitor commodity trends (steel, copper, aluminum, PV cells).

• Project Procurement Management
• Ensure timely material availability aligned with project schedules.
• Coordinate closely with Engineering & Project teams for BOQ finalization.
• Support bid team during tender stage with competitive pricing.
• Oversee logistics, import management, and site-level coordination.

• Vendor Development & Compliance
• Identify and onboard reliable domestic and global suppliers.
• Implement vendor evaluation and performance scorecards.
• Ensure compliance with MNRE, ALMM, DISCOM, and statutory requirements.
• Develop alternate vendor strategies to mitigate supply risk.

• Governance & Risk Management
• Establish procurement SOPs, delegation matrix, and approval workflows.
• Strengthen contract clauses (LDs, warranties, bank guarantees).
• Ensure audit compliance and financial discipline.
• Implement ERP-driven procurement tracking and dashboards.

• Team Leadership
• Build and lead a high-performance procurement & supply chain team.
• Drive transparency, ethics, and accountability across procurement processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical preferred); MBA preferred.
• 20+ years of procurement experience, with at least 57 years in Solar EPC / Infrastructure leadership.
• Proven experience handling MW-scale project procurement.
• Strong OEM and vendor network in the solar ecosystem.
