Job Description

Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)

Location: Noida, Delhi

Reporting To: Founders / Directors

Experience Required: 12 + years (Minimum 4+ years in senior leadership)

With 50,000+ students enrolled and growing at 100%+ YoY, our client operates a powerful multi-engine growth model:

  • B2C Inside Sales: 500+ Career Development Advisors
  • B2B Channel Partners: Pan-India institutional partner network
  • Digital Marketing Engine: Performance, organic, content, and influence-led growth

We are at a pivotal growth stage and are looking for a high-energy, growth-obsessed CMO to scale the next chapter.

Role Overview

We are seeking a young, performance-driven, founder-minded CMO who can scale student acquisition while building a category-defining brand in online education.

The ideal candidate:

  • Thinks like a founder deeply understands unit economics and marketing-driven revenue
  • Leads from the front has built and scaled teams, not merely managed them
  • Is data lives in dashboards, thinks in funnels, speaks in ROAS and CAC
  • Understands EdTech especially high-consideration, research-heavy student journeys

The CMO will own the entire marketing funnel from awareness to enrolment and will be directly accountable for marketing-driven revenue and ROI.

Key Responsibilities

1. Marketing Strategy & Growth Leadership

  • Define and execute the overall marketing strategy aligned with enrolment and revenue targets
  • Own the marketing P&L, including budget allocation, channel mix, and ROAS accountability
  • Align closely with Sales, Inside Sales (CDAs), Channel Partners, Product, and University Alliances
  • Build a high-performance, experimentation-first marketing culture
  • Drive structured growth sprints, funnel testing, and data-backed decision-making

2. Lead Generation & Demand Engine

Own and scale multi-channel acquisition at scale:

Performance Marketing

Google Ads, Meta, YouTube, Programmatic, LinkedIn, Affiliates

Organic & Content

SEO, blogs, comparison content, YouTube SEO

Influence Marketing

Educational creators, career mentors, student ambassadors

Community & Referral Growth

Student communities, alumni networks, referral programs

Core Metrics to Improve:

  • Cost per Lead (CPL)
  • ROAS (Return on Ad Spend)
  • Lead Volume at Scale (without quality dilution)

3. Funnel Optimisation & Conversion Excellence

  • Improve MQL SQL Enrolment conversion rates
  • Work closely with Inside Sales teams to optimize lead quality and conversion
  • Own targeting strategy, messaging frameworks, and landing page optimization
  • Build lead scoring models and structured lead handoff processes
  • Drive marketing automation for nurturing and re-engagement
  • (Working knowledge of tools like LeadSquared expected)

4. Team Leadership & Organizational Scaling

This is mission-critical.

The CMO will:

  • Lead, mentor, and scale an existing multi-functional marketing team
  • Bring structure, performance rigor, and accountability
  • Identify capability gaps and hire A-players
  • Elevate performance marketing, SEO, content, social, design, and influencer functions
  • Manage agency and vendor partnerships

The mandate is to upgrade and scale, not rebuild from scratch.

5. Brand Building & Category Leadership

  • Position us as the most trusted online education platform in India
  • Develop a strong, consistent brand narrative across digital, PR, and influencer channels
  • Drive thought leadership and category education initiatives
  • Ensure brand coherence across every student touchpoint

6. Analytics & Performance Measurement

Build and own marketing dashboards tracking:

  • Cost per Lead (CPL)
  • ROAS
  • Channel-wise ROI
  • Lead Volume by Source
  • MQL to Enrollment Rate
  • Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC)
  • Brand Search Growth

The CMO must be comfortable with attribution modeling, cohort analysis, and funnel optimization at scale.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Must-Have

  • 1012 years in marketing, including 4+ years in leadership roles (Head of Marketing / VP / CMO)
  • Proven experience leading and scaling teams of 15+ members
  • Strong EdTech or Education industry background
  • Deep hands-on performance marketing expertise (Google, Meta, YouTube)
  • Growth-hacker mindset fast experimentation, rapid iteration
  • Data-first thinking comfortable owning dashboards and ROI decisions
  • Experience in platform, aggregator, marketplace, or lead-generation businesses

Good-to-Have

  • Experience in online universities, distance education, or admission platforms
  • Strong exposure to YouTube and influencer marketing
  • MBA from a reputed institution
  • Experience with marketing automation tools (e.g., LeadSquared)
