About the role

Lendables competitive advantage is data. We integrate data across lenders, payments companies, carbon offsets, and other business types, covering hundreds of heterogeneous data sources of varying reliability, quality, and completeness. This data drives impact measurement and tracking, investment underwriting, collateral monitoring, portfolio risk management, and market-leading analytics across emerging and frontier markets. Our proprietary dataset spans hundreds of millions of loans across dozens of countries and we are scaling to billions of loans. Data is not a support function at Lendable, it is the core of our investment engine.

As we continue to scale, we need an executive leader who owns Lendables end-to-end data function: strategy, architecture, governance, integrations, and AI enablement. As we grow from $1b in AUA to more than $10b, you will oversee Lendables Engineering, Data Engineering, and Analytics functions to drive true business value, from reducing loss rates to driving faster capital deployment to stabilizing cost base growth. You will set the direction for Lendables information architecture, data architecture, and data governance, while also making the key technical decisions required to support that strategy in practice. You will collaborate closely with the Senior Director of Analytics and the CEO to define Lendables long-term data vision and to ensure that we remain an industry leader in data acquisition, processing, validation, and AI-driven automation.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical design and evolution of Lendables data and analytics platform. You will make the key architecture, tooling, and buy-vs-build decisions across the stack, from ingestion pipelines, warehouse design, and data quality frameworks through to the platforms, services, and delivery patterns required to productionalize analytics tools and user-facing data products. You will manage security, cost implications, and organizational structure to accomplish this.
• Collaborate closely with Lendables Senior Director of Analytics and Lendables CEO to define Lendables long-term data strategy and roadmap. Ensure that data and technology at Lendable are driving business value across loss rates, cost base, and speed of capital deployment.
• Drive AI adoption across Lendable. Identify use cases across credit, risk, and impact data and push organizational adoption and prototype solutions using AI tools. Ensure that Lendable has the AI technical infrastructure, policies, and security in place to stay at the cutting edge of AI. You will oversee this strategy and manage any internal or outsource resources to build these tools.
• Iterate and quickly prototype solutions for technology challenges to drive understanding and innovation before managing the engineering team to productionalize the solutions. Quickly deliver innovative solutions to deploy and operationalize analytics team product prototypes.
• Oversee Lendables strategy for identifying and quickly integrating new data sources to drive impact, investment, and risk decisions. You will define the processes, tooling, testing frameworks, and KPIs that ensure new data is integrated consistently, quickly, and safely.
• Ensure that Lendables data is rational, well-structured, labeled, standardized, and ultimately understandable such that all of Lendables stakeholders operate from a shared and trusted understanding. You will design and oversee Lendables data catalogue, discoverability of data sets, data input methods, data access methods, data lineage standards, and taxonomies of Lendables data sets. Because of you, everyone at Lendable will use consistent language, taxonomies, and semantic frameworks to describe data in our organization.
• Establish the systems, controls, and accountability structures that guarantee the accuracy, speed, and trustworthiness of all data used across Lendable. You will drive the strategy and define everything from automated data testing to data quality KPIs and communication to stakeholders to data security and access policies. Ultimately, it is your job to ensure that Lendables data teams deliver on time, high quality data that stakeholders can trust to make investment, risk, and impact decisions.
• Manage a team and oversee the processes and systems to ensure that Lendables integrations with borrower systems are accurate, resilient, and continuously verified so that underwriting and monitoring rely on real-time, trustworthy data. This includes defining SLAs, borrower onboarding processes, scalable frameworks for reconciliation and anomaly detection, and clear internal communication of integration status.

You are an executive excited to build Lendables data and technology teams, processes, and infrastructure from $1b in Assets Under Advisory to $10b and beyond.

• Have been the person ultimately accountable for driving business value through data.
• Have led a team of data engineers to deliver data platforms that have processed massive data and successfully provided the infrastructure to deliver cutting edge analytics products on top of that data. You have managed the key technology, infrastructure, security, and org decisions from orchestration to data pipelines to analytics delivery infrastructure.
• Have been in charge of data strategy and architecture in environments with heterogeneous, unreliable, or high-volume data sources. You understand what it takes to bring order and consistency to messy, real-world data.
• Have significant experience leading data and engineering teams in private credit, financial services, or other investments where the difference between high quality and low quality data is the difference between losing money or not. You should have experience understanding how the data is used to make actual decisions downstream and the types of semantic layering that the analysis team will require to move quickly.
• Have concrete examples of leading strategy on ETL/ELT patterns, integration of heterogeneous data sources, and data onboarding expertise.
• Have actively used AI tools in your work day to day and have concrete examples of automating key business areas using AI. Understand the governance and security implications of using AI with sensitive financial data.
• Have case studies of data governance frameworks that you have built or overseen. Have concrete examples of building or overseeing scalable data testing, reconciliation, and monitoring systems.
• Have experience operating effectively in small, fast-moving teams with limited resources. You know how to prioritize ruthlessly and deliver durable systems without over-engineering.
