Role Overview: Chief Architect - Robotics and Embodied AI

The Chief Architect - Robotics and Embodied AI will lead DSUs efforts to build intelligent humanoid and autonomous robotic systems powered by large-scale learning and reasoning. This role focuses on integrating reinforcement learning, sim-to-real transfer, perception, and cognition to create robots capable of operating in complex, real-world environments.

The laboratory will develop Large Action Models (LAMs), reasoning-driven control systems, and human-robot interaction frameworks, positioning DSU at the forefront of embodied intelligence research. The Chief Architect will oversee massive simulation pipelines, real-world robotic deployments, and interdisciplinary collaboration across AI, mechanical systems, and cognitive science.

This role also plays a key part in building Indias sovereign robotics capabilities by partnering with industry, nurturing startups, and translating research breakthroughs into deployable robotic platforms.

Short Summary:

Leads Robotics and Embodied AI, building reasoning-driven robots using large-scale reinforcement learning and sim-to-real intelligence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and train Large Action Models (LAMs) for humanoid and autonomous robots.
• Utilize 20% of B200 compute for massive reinforcement learning simulations.
• Lead research in embodied AI, sim-to-real transfer, and robot cognition.
• Develop Indias first reasoning-based humanoid intelligence platforms.
• Establish collaborations with robotics companies and global research labs.
• Guide PhD and postdoctoral research in advanced robotics and AI systems.

Desired Profile:

• Senior roboticist from Boston Dynamics, Tesla Optimus, or equivalent advanced robotics teams.
• Distinguished faculty from CMU Robotics Institute, ETH Zurich, or similar institutions.
• Proven expertise in reinforcement learning, robotic perception, and human-robot interaction.
