About the Team and the Role:

The Vehicle Engineering - Chassis team at Ather is responsible for the design and development of critical structural systems and components that define the vehicle's integrity and performance.

This role is for a Chassis Structural Engineer who will lead the development of structural parts like frames, swing arms, handlebar and stands, ensuring they meet rigorous quality, cost, and timing benchmarks through cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop primary structural systems including the frame, swing arm, side stand, main stand, footrests, grab handle, wheels and handlebar.

• Manage the end-to-end delivery of parts while ensuring strict adherence to quality standards, cost targets, and project timelines.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Simulations, Program, Production, and Manufacturing Engineering for seamless part development.

• Establish comprehensive Simulation and Testing Design Verification Plans (DVPs) in coordination with respective departments.

• Analyze testing and simulation results to drive continuous design improvements and structural optimizations.

• Formulate Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) aligned with DVPs to identify and mitigate technical risks.

• Oversee the Engineering Bill of Materials (BOM) and maintain accurate documentation for all structural components.

• Create and update Design Standard documents while documenting lessons learned to enhance the organizational knowledge base.

Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering or an equivalent degree.

• 2 - 4 years of experience in automotive structures design and development.

Must Have Competencies

• Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing and assembly philosophies including DFA, DFM, DFS, and DFR.

• Technical expertise in utilizing CAD tools such as Solidworks or NX for complex structural design.

• Application of GD&T, stack-up analysis, and tolerance and fit analysis to ensure engineering precision.

• Execution of DFMEA methodologies to identify potential failure modes during product development.

Good to Have Competencies

• Integration of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) principles within the product development lifecycle.

• Selection and application of diverse engineering materials based on structural requirements.

• Analysis of structural interactions with integrated vehicle sub-systems.

• Management of engineering projects involving 2 to 4 distinct structural systems.
