Chassis Design Engineer

Qualification: BE Mechanical / Automobile

Experience Range: 2 to 4 Years

Roles & Responsibilities:

• This role focuses on managing design changes and resolving production issues related to Cabin and BIW components.
• The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure timely implementation of design modifications, maintain product quality, and support continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.

Must Have:

• Change Control: Evaluate and implement engineering changes for Cabin and BIW components.
• Coordinate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to assess impact and feasibility.
• Maintain documentation and traceability of all design changes.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
• Production Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve design-related issues arising during production.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Support shop floor teams with technical guidance and design clarifications.
• Monitor recurring issues and propose long-term design improvements.
• Design Engineering: Develop and optimize Cabin and BIW components using CAD tools (e.g., CATIA).
• Perform structural and durability simulations (FEA).
• Ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness of designs.
• Collaborate with suppliers for part development and validation.
• Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as sheet metal, Plastic, casting, and machining.
• Testing and Evaluation: Ability to define and conduct tests and evaluations under various conditions to ensure performance and safety.
• Project Coordination: Capability to manage and coordinate activities with cross-functional teams and suppliers for serial changes and project execution.
• CATIA V5 R20: Hands-on experience in CATIA V5 R20 for model preparation using modules like part design, SMD, GSD, assembly, and drawings.
• Design Documentation: Capability to perform design documentation in PLM and generate Bill of Materials.
• GD&T: Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and ability to perform tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. A team player.
• Responsibility and Decision-Making: Willingness to take responsibility and make decisions.
• International Travel: Flexibility for international travel.

Good to Have:

• PLM Systems: Knowledge or working experience in PLM systems such as Windchill or OAS.
• CATIA V5 Simulation: Knowledge of CATIA V5 Simulation Module GAS/GPS.
