CFD Analyst

Objective / Purpose of duty:

• Construct and solve advanced, high-quality CFD models of Air Distribution products
• Provide recommendations to improve design, performance and reduce cost of the equipment through the simulation study

Main responsibilities:

• Perform 3D CFD - flow and heat transfer simulations for a wide range of HVAC equipment and Air Distribution products like Heat exchangers, Louvers, Dampers, Penthouses, ERV, VAV boxes, Economisers, Grills, Diffusers etc.
• Perform advance flow & heat transfer CFD simulation such as DPM, Transient Fan simulation, VOF, Conjugate Heat Transfer
• Perform CFD analysis using ANSYS Fluent, CAD data pre-processing using SpaceClaim and to build mesh model with Fluent mesher/WB
• Provide design suggestions/value additions based on analysis results and engineering judgment to improve product design.
• Provide accurate and detailed reports of CFD results for different Air Distribution stakeholders
• Create and improve standard work practices and procedures
• Provide effective design solutions to optimize product functionality, reliability and stability
• Develop process improvements and standard work practices for operational efficiency

Experience, knowledge, skills required:

• MS or M. Tech degree in Engineering (Thermal / Aerospace / Engineering Science) from a recognized university with 3-5 years of experience
• Ability to create advanced high quality CFD models and provides recommendations to improve design, performance and reduce cost of the equipment
• Thorough know how of ANSYS Fluent & Fluent Mesher, CFX and SpaceClaim. Knowledge of Starccm+ is an added advantage
• Develop and maintain specific CFD methodologies for HVAC and air distribution products
• Knowledge of Air Distribution products like AHU, Diffusers, Dampers, Grilles, Louvers, VAV, ERV etc.
• Knowledge of AMCA, ANSI, ASHRAE standards
• Develop relationships and communicate with fellow products team in the US and CAE engineers with the purpose of knowledge and workload sharing
• Conduct correlation studies between CFD and lab testing for improvement and verification of CFD models and improvement in accuracy and consistency of lab testing of test components or system/sub-systems
