Central Planner & Estimator (Project Coordinator)

Carino Construction is the infrastructure arm of Carino Inc. - built KMCT Medical College & Hospital, Grha Resorts, and Kerala PWD road infrastructure over the past two decades.

We do not build individual homes. We build landmarks - hospitals, institutional campuses, luxury resorts, and government infrastructure - across South India.

We are now scaling our operations and need a Central Planner & Estimator to manage planning and estimation for multiple large-scale construction sites simultaneously from our central office in Calicut.

This is not a generic civil engineering role. This is a specialised planning and estimation role inside a serious construction company.

• B.Tech or M.Tech in Civil Engineering
• 1 3 years of experience specifically in estimation, planning, or quantity surveying within building construction - not general site engineering
• Familiarity with ERP tools or construction management software (Procore, Buildsmart, SAP, or similar)
• Experience working with multiple projects simultaneously from a central office function

Be honest with yourself:

• You have a civil engineering degree but have spent your career on site supervision not estimation or planning
• You can prepare a BOQ when given a rate schedule and told what to measure, but you cannot independently read a drawing and derive quantities
• Your Excel skills are limited to basic data entry and SUM formulas
• You prefer visiting sites and managing people over sitting at a desk and building planning models
• You work reactively - you respond to problems rather than anticipating them
• You are looking for a role where you can learn estimation from scratch on the job

• Quantity Estimation & BOQ Development: Read architectural and structural drawings and independently convert them into accurate, itemised Bills of Quantities. Brickwork, concrete, steel, finishes, MEP rough quantities - you will estimate from drawings, not from someone telling you what to measure.
• Material Planning & Forecasting: Build forward-looking material requirement schedules for each active site. If a site will need 4,000 blocks in Week 6, the order must go out in Week 3. You will own the planning cycle that makes this happen - without being reminded.
• Zero Stockout Management: Material stockouts on construction sites kill productivity and cost money. You will maintain live material forecasts across all sites and ensure that no site ever waits for material that should have been planned.
• ERP & System Data Management: All planning data lives in our internal systems. You will maintain clean, structured, and auditable data - not a personal Excel file that only you can read. The system must work even when you are not in the office.
• Drawing Interpretation & Scope Clarity: When drawings are ambiguous or incomplete, you will raise queries early, not discover problems when material is already at the site. You are the first filter between the drawing room and the field.
• Cross-Site Coordination You will coordinate with site engineers and project managers across multiple sites to align material delivery schedules, flag planning deviations, and ensure execution follows the plan you have built.

This role is specifically within building construction - institutional, commercial, and infrastructure projects.

The materials you will estimate and plan include:

• Structural: Concrete (M20, M25, M30), Reinforcement Steel (TMT bars), Formwork
• Masonry: AAC Blocks, Solid/Hollow Concrete Blocks, Brickwork, Mortar (cement + sand mixes)
• Finishes: Plastering, tiling, waterproofing, painting
• MEP rough quantities: Conduit, pipes, fittings (coordination level - not detailed MEP estimation)

If you have never read a structural drawing, never calculated concrete volumes from a column schedule, or never prepared a BOQ from scratch - this role is not for you yet.

If you have done these things and done them well - read on.

• 3-month mandatory probation
• Salary during probation: 25,000/month
• At the end of 90 days, performance is reviewed against a specific set of measurable criteria - estimation accuracy, planning adherence, data quality, and zero critical stockouts
• Salary upon confirmation: up to 35,000/month based on performance
• This is not a guaranteed increment. It is an earned one.

• The number of AAC blocks required (with wastage factor applied and shown separately)
• The volume of mortar required (in cubic metres, before and after bulking)
• The quantity of cement required (in bags of 50kg)
• The quantity of sand required (in cubic feet or cubic metres state which)
• All calculations must be formula-driven no manually typed numbers
• Assumptions must be clearly stated in a separate tab or section
