About Company:
Exide Energy Solutions Limited (EESL) is one of the fastest growing companies who has vision to solve social issues regarding energy, environment, resource, etc with producing lithium-ion battery products. Exide Energy Solutions Ltd is setting up Indias first Giga plant to manufacture Lithium Ion Cells in Bengaluru. Exide Energy Solutions Limited is looking for NMC Cell design and development in the Cell R&D organization to achieve companys goal. The role requires to lead design and development team for NMC technology for various format of battery cells manufactured in EESL Gigafactory.
Role Objectives:
- Cell performance and degradation data remains the basis to convince customers, provide warranty and to buy our products
- Different customers in various product segments want the cells to be tested as per their protocols to gain confidence in the cell performance.
- With many players in the industry, benchmarking is crucial to plan the roadmap for the product development
- Focus on testing protocols to satisfy homologation requirement and get the Indegenous cells certified for different regions.
Roles and Responsibility:
- Write cell test plans, propose design of experiments and summarize results in test reports.
- Execute Cell life cycle test as per the customer requirements, Simulation model requirements or warranty validation support data creation
- Initiate testing, monitor, documentation and communicate the progress.
- Work with design, simulation team to exchange data, convey safety concerns during development or on existing cells based on testing experience
- Automate data processing for quick result analysis
- Regularly update the regulatory requirements for cell and pack testing
- Short term and long-term test plan, understand the failure behaviour based on the dynamic test data.
- Attention to detail, interest in developing inspection skills, and aptitude for electrical and mechanical test methods
Mandatory Skills:
- Hands on experience working with battery cell cycling equipment.
- Understand Cell electrochemistry with different constraints and materials used in testing of lithium-ion battery cells
- Perform cell level physical analysis and other analytical techniques to analyse mechanisms of energy (SOH) and power degradation in lithium-ion cells.
- Interpretation of cell test-data and compute degradation modes of various battery chemistries and propose countermeasures to hinder the cell degradation.
- Communicate trade-offs related to different cell testing parameters and develop/document standards for performance
- Develop new electrochemical/chemical tests to analyse battery materials leading to degradation and improve cell life cycles and capacity retention.
- Knowledge of safe laboratory procedures when handling lithium-ion cells.
- Knowledge of national and international standard applicable for cells and battery pack (Un38.3, IEC 62133, IS 16046, UL1642, AIS048, AIS135).
- Statistics experience. Excellent skill set at Excel data analysis.
- Demonstrate the desire to drive continuous internal process improvement methods through critical thinking skills
Desired Skills:
- Experience working with common cell cycling hardware (Arbin, Maccor, Neware, Biologic, PEC, Bitrode, AV, Gamry)
- Knowledge of electrical test equipment used in battery cell and pack testing or equivalent. Cell Cycler, Battery cell formation unit, Automatic battery pack tester, Impedance tester, Chargers, Thermal Imager, High Voltage tester, Environmental test chamber.
- Data analysis and coding experience (i.e. MATLAB, Python, and/or similar data analysis tool
