Category Manager - Sell Side


Location: Bangalore, Karnataka, India


Role Overview


We are looking for a driven and detail-oriented Category - Sell Side professional to support the growth and performance of brands within assigned categories. This role focuses on improving brand adoption, assortment quality, pricing competitiveness, and operational metrics while working closely with internal teams and external brands. The ideal candidate is analytical, execution-focused, and eager to learn category and marketplace dynamics.

Key Responsibilities


1. Brand Performance Management

  • Work closely with brands to improve key performance metrics such as fill rate, cancellations, returns, and on-time dispatch.
  • Monitor brand scorecards and proactively identify gaps impacting category performance.
  • Support brands in meeting platform policies, quality standards, and service-level agreements.


2. Assortment & Listing Management

  • Ensure brands maintain accurate, high-quality product listings with correct content, images, and attributes.
  • Identify assortment gaps and work with brands to onboard relevant products and SKUs.
  • Support seasonal launches, new product additions, and category expansion initiatives.


3. Pricing & Competitiveness

  • Track category pricing and competitive benchmarks.
  • Work with brands to improve price competitiveness while maintaining healthy margins.
  • Support execution of pricing updates, promotions, and discounting initiatives.


4. Operational Excellence

  • Monitor day-to-day category health metrics including inventory availability, fill rate, cancellations, and returns.
  • Coordinate with operations, supply chain, and brand support teams to resolve brand and order-level issues.
  • Flag risks early and help implement corrective actions.


5. Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze sales, traffic, conversion, and brand performance data to generate insights.
  • Prepare regular reports and dashboards to track category and brand performance.
  • Support senior category managers with data and analysis for business reviews.


6. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with internal teams including catalog, operations, brand support, finance, and marketing.
  • Assist in execution of category campaigns, brand programs, and platform initiatives.
  • Act as a point of contact for day-to-day brand queries related to category performance.


What Were Looking For


  • Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in category management, marketplace operations, brand management, or analytics (preferably in ecommerce).
  • Highly proficient with SQL & Excel thereby having very strong analytical skills and comfort working with data.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong execution orientation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow within category or business roles.
