About the Role:

As a Short Form Scriptwriter for our Careers IP at YAAS, you'll be creating content that helps younger audience navigate side hustles and income opportunities without the cringe motivation or fake guru BS. You'll write scripts that explore real, beginner-friendly ways to earn extra money, delivered with the right mix of wit, honesty, and relatability. Your work will shape a channel that documents the journey alongside the audience rather than preaching from a pedestal. This role requires sharp writing instincts, and the ability to balance entertainment with genuine value.

Responsibilities:

• Research and write 48-50 high-quality scripts monthly for Instagram reels focused on side hustles, income experiments, and career navigation.
• Develop content that maintains our tone: clean yet witty, bold but not preachy, relatable without being cringe.
• Identify legitimate side hustles, expose scams, and test income opportunities worth exploring.
• Provide editors with specific B-Roll links, meme references, and visual-aid input to bring scripts to life.
• Analyse performance data and adapt writing approach based on audience response.
• Work collaboratively with editors to ensure smooth content production workflow.
• Manage the script-to-publication process (3-4 hours writing, 3-4 hours production support daily).
• Occasionally collaborate with the team on content strategy and IP direction.

Qualifications:

• 1-2 years experience writing for younger audiences with understanding engagement metrics
• Deep understanding of younger audience, internet culture.

Required Skills:

• Strong research skills to identify legitimate opportunities and debunk scams.
• Excellent writing abilities without over-reliance on AI tools (should use LLMs strategically to enhance thinking and identify trends, not replace original writing).
• Understanding of visual storytelling and how scripts translate to video.
• Demonstrated ability to write compelling hooks and maintain viewer attention.
• Experience analysing content performance data and adjusting strategy accordingly.
• Cultural fluency in meme language and younger audience communication style.
• Portfolio of previous work showing writing quality and engagement results.

Nice to Have:

• Background in career counseling, corporate training, or career journalism.
• Personal careers content channel or portfolio of published work.
• Experience with YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, LinkedIn video strategy.
• Knowledge of video production workflows and how scripts translate to final edits.
• Understanding of employment laws and professional conduct standards in careers content.

What We're Not Looking For:

• Generic "top 5 resume tips" thinking without depth.
• Inability to verify data or cite credible sources properly.
• Resistance to learning AI tools or adapting to new workflows.
• Slow output or inability to manage multiple content timelines.
• Lack of awareness of what's happening in the careers creator space.
