Role Overview
We are looking for a high-ownership Financial Controller who can go beyond traditional accounting and build strong financial control systems for an asset-heavy leasing business.
This role requires deep expertise in:
Leasing accounting (Ind AS / IFRS)
Asset profitability & unit economics
Cash flow and working capital management
Credit risk control
Process automation and team leadership
The candidate will work closely with founders and leadership to ensure financial discipline while supporting rapid scale.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounting & Financial Control
Oversee end-to-end accounting operations (GL, AP, AR, taxation, MIS).
Ensure accurate capitalization and depreciation of leased battery assets.
Maintain compliance with Ind AS, Companies Act, GST, TDS, and applicable regulations.
Strengthen internal controls and financial governance.
2. Leasing & Asset Economics Management
Monitor profitability at asset / cohort level.
Build financial models for leasing IRR, payback, and portfolio returns.
Track maintenance cost vs revenue performance across assets.
Identify early warning signals for asset underperformance.
3. Revenue Recognition & Credit Risk
Implement revenue recognition policies aligned with leasing contracts.
Manage exposure to large fleet customers and credit concentration risks.
Define credit limits, provisioning policies, and collection controls.
Partner with business teams to improve receivable cycles.
4. Cash Flow & Working Capital Optimization
Manage cash flow planning for capex-heavy operations.
Improve collection efficiency and working capital cycles.
Drive vendor credit negotiations and financing strategies.
Support debt fundraising, NBFC partnerships, and lender reporting.
5. Month-End Close & MIS Excellence
Reduce month-end closure timelines through process improvements.
Ensure timely MIS, dashboards, and management reporting.
Build automated reporting frameworks and SOPs.
6. Compliance, Audit & Governance
Lead statutory, internal, and lender audits.
Ensure regulatory compliance including tax and financial reporting.
Identify risks and implement preventive financial controls.
Handle audit observations and corrective action plans.
7. Team Leadership & Process Ownership
Lead and mentor finance team across AP, AR, GL, and taxation.
Improve productivity without immediate team expansion.
Build SOPs, checklists, and review cadences.
Create a culture of accountability and accuracy.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Qualification
Chartered Accountant (CA) Mandatory
Experience
36 years of experience (start-up / NBFC / leasing / asset-heavy businesses preferred)
Experience in multi-entity or high-transaction environments is a plus.
Core Competencies Required
Strong knowledge of Ind AS / IFRS (leasing & asset accounting preferred)
Financial modelling and unit economics understanding
Working capital and cash flow management
Credit risk management
ERP and accounting systems expertise
Process improvement and automation mindset
