Job Description (JD)

C++ Technical Architect – Medical Device Software

The C++ Technical Architect is responsible for architecting and designing high‑performance, scalable, and secure software systems for medical devices. This role involves leading technical decision‑making, driving system‑level architecture, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and performance requirements. The architect will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams including Product Management, Quality Assurance, System Engineering, and Development teams to deliver robust, safe, and innovative medical device software. The role emphasizes strong system design abilities, mentorship, and continuous improvement aligned with modern C++ standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and design scalable, secure, high‑performance C++ applications for medical devices.

• Lead architectural discussions, system design reviews, and critical technical decisions across teams.

• Work with Product Management, QA, Systems Engineering, and R&D to align functional, regulatory, and performance goals.

• Create and maintain architectural documents such as system diagrams, specifications, and design artifacts.

• Mentor development teams in architecture, secure coding, and modern C++ best practices.

• Analyze complex requirements and translate them into efficient, maintainable, and scalable designs.

• Stay up‑to‑date with modern C++ standards and industry trends to drive innovation.

Job Requirements (JR) MUST Haves

Experience Requirements

• 12+ years of professional experience in C++ software development.

• Minimum 3 years as a Technical Architect in complex software environments.

• Experience working in regulated domains such as medical devices, automotive, aerospace, or healthcare (preferred but included as required per your request).

Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in modern C++ (C++11/14/17/20) and object‑oriented design.

• Deep system‑design capability: modular architecture, componentization, interface design, performance optimization.

• Hands‑on experience with multi‑threaded, real‑time, and performance‑critical applications.

• Strong knowledge of architecture patterns (modular, layered, microservices concepts where applicable).

• Familiarity with Git, CMake, CI/CD, static analyzers, debugging tools.

• Understanding of secure coding practices, cybersecurity considerations, and safety‑critical design principles.

• Experience with HW/SW integration and working with cross‑disciplinary engineering teams.

• Ability to create architectural artifacts (UML diagrams, specifications, system-level documentation).

Regulatory & Domain Requirements (Preferred)

• Knowledge of medical device regulatory standards such as:

  • IEC 62304 (software life cycle)

  • ISO 14971 (risk management)

  • IEC 60601‑1 or cybersecurity standards is a plus.

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
