Job Overview:

The Business Systems Analyst (Configuration and Testing) supports the delivery of health and welfare benefits administration by configuring client systems based on approved benefit plans, eligibility rules, and enrollment requirements, and by independently validating configurations performed by other team members through structured testing.

The role is embedded within live, regulated benefits administration environments, where accuracy, testing rigor, and documentation are critical to client compliance, member eligibility, and enrollment outcomes. This is not application development. It is a platform-embedded configuration and testing work supporting production benefits administration operations.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

• Analyze client and operational requirements related to health and welfare benefit plans, eligibility rules, enrollment logic, and plan options.
• Configure benefits administration systems in accordance with documented requirements, including plan setup, eligibility criteria, enrollment parameters, and related business rules.
• Ensure configurations align with client contracts, plan documents, and regulatory requirements, escalating ambiguities or gaps for clarification.
• Develop and execute functional and regression test scenarios to validate system configurations performed by other team members against documented requirements.
• Test eligibility, enrollment, and plan behavior across standard, boundary, and exception scenarios to ensure accuracy and compliance before production release.
• Validate configuration outcomes using system outputs, reports, and data queries, ensuring consistency between expected and actual results.
• Document configuration specifications, test cases, test evidence, and defects clearly and thoroughly to support audit readiness and knowledge continuity.
• Collaborate with configuration, operations, and client-facing teams to investigate issues identified during testing and support timely resolution.
• Support implementation, Annual Enrollment, and ongoing plan changes through controlled configuration updates and corresponding validation activities.
• Track CAT & Prod defects with clear root cause and prepare RCAs for each CAT and PROD defect.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, or equivalent technical education.
• Experience of at least 2 years in health insurance or health and welfare benefits administration, with a strong understanding of eligibility processes and COBRA administration.
• Hands-on experience configuring enterprise or benefits administration systems based on documented business and benefits requirements.
• Hands-on experience in functional system testing, UAT support, or configuration validation, including test case design, execution, validation of results, and defect documentation.
• Strong understanding of structured testing methodologies, including development of test plans, positive and negative test scenarios, and unit and integration validation approaches.
• Intermediate proficiency in SQL and data validation techniques to support reconciliation, testing, and defect analysis.
• Strong ability to interpret Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) and translate system design requirements into accurate configurations and corresponding test scenarios.
• Experience working in regulated, production-oriented environments with low tolerance for error and high documentation standards.
• Experience using ticketing or defect management tools such as JIRA or similar systems.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and disciplined documentation practices.
• Familiarity with structured delivery environments such as Agile or Scrum.
• Working knowledge of Python scripting for automation or validation support.
