Role Purpose
We are seeking a highly experienced Business Project Manager who will own and lead the successful delivery of complex, strategic Finance transformation initiatives. This role goes beyond traditional project management - you will be required to lead from the front, form independent views, understands the underlying business, process, and enabling technology, actively shape direction, lead conversations, and turn vision into execution through strong ownership, initiative, and influence. You will drive day-to-day delivery, lead cross-functional matrix teams, and build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders to progress outcomes at pace. You will operate as a hands-on leader, be proactive, commercially minded, and organized - partnering closely with the business to deliver practical, sustainable change, with a clear mandate to own outcomes rather than facilitate discussions.
Responsibilities
End-to-End Ownership of Strategic Initiatives: Take full ownership for the delivery of strategic Finance projects, leading work from definition through to execution. Proactively drive scope, quality, timelines, and budget to ensure alignment with organisational priorities and delivery of tangible outcomes.
Process Transformation: Develop a deep understanding of Finance processes, operating models, and enabling technologies to add informed, practical insight to solution design. Lead and direct activities to analyse current-state processes and design future-state solutions using ESSA principles (Eliminate, Simplify, Standardise, Automate), with a focus on measurable business outcomes partnering with Global Process Owners or Functional SMEs. Actively challenge sub-optimal designs and ensure technology enables process efficiency rather than automating inefficiency.
Executive Stakeholder Engagement: Lead critical conversations with senior leaders and governance forums, providing clear insights, recommendations, and direction to support informed decision-making and maintain momentum Own communications to governance forums, ensuring risks, dependencies, and delivery implications are transparent and proactively managed.
Governance & Risk Management: Establish and maintain fit-for-purpose governance, including delivery plans, budgets, and risk and issue management. Proactively identify and resolve risks to ensure transparency, control, and confidence in delivery
Day-to-Day Delivery Leadership and Accountability: Drive the day-to-day execution of work, directing cross-functional, matrixed teams across Finance and Technology. Actively remove blockers, manage dependencies, and ensure delivery remains focused on agreed business outcomes
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build and maintain strong partnerships with Global Process Owners (GPOs), Finance leaders, and Technology teams taking full accountability for delivering strategic outcomes.
Relationship Management: You will bring to the table strong communication and relationship building capabilities, not just driving the delivery of transformation changes, but proactively influencing, shaping, and driving colleagues to deliver on agreed outcomes.
What We Are Looking For
Demonstrated ability to own and lead initiatives end to end, taking full accountability for outcomes and proactively driving work to completion across time, cost, and quality. Strong relationship-building skills across Finance functions, PMO (Programme Management Office), and external partners to ensure alignment and delivery.
Ability to influence without authority to achieve desired objectives.
Experience working across matrix teams in multiple locations, balancing competing priorities while maintaining focus on delivery and outcomes.
Demonstrated success in delivering change initiatives in Finance or Technology Brings initiative, creativity, and commercial thinking to identify opportunities, solve problems, and deliver measurable business benefits.
Strong commitment to improving ways of working, service delivery, and outcomes through learning, innovation, and practical application.
Skills & Experiences
Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant Finance experience across multiple teams.
Experience in Project Management and/or Change Management.
Proven track record of successfully delivering change initiatives or projects.
Experience working in complex, matrixed environments across multiple geographies.
Leadership of projects/change and ability to take full ownership to drive objectives independently to realize outcomes to time, cost and quality.
Desirable
Exposure or experience in delivery of technology or process improvement initiatives.
Experience working in Finance or specifically accounting services delivery.
Project or change management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) is advantageous but not essential.
